  • As long as they're the appropriate goggles, I think they're allowed.

And if you get shop, yes, you will need an apron (I was unfortunate enough to get Electricity).

You will need a compass, a t-square, a mechanical pencil, an architect's ruler, and some other stuff for TD... I forgot.

You'll also need an orange regents chemistry book for your regular chemistry class.
  • Depends on who you have.... some people are more strict...but when i had shop they let me use the ones at school....

You can use the chemistry goggles for shop but not the shop goggles for chemistry. Shop goggles have breathing holes on the side where liquids from chemistry can enter through.
  • DoodleKid mentioned that he got Electricity unfortunately.

Do you get to choose these classes, or are they randomly assigned?

Sophomore Technology classes are randomly selected.
  • What? Isn't that the same with gym?

What kind of classes are there for Sophomore Technology?

    Metal Shop

    Electric Shop

    Technical Drawing

    Wood Shop

Add on if I forgot anything. I think this is all.

    For Chemistry, Yes.
  • You definitely take Technical Drawing one term. For the other term, it'll be a random picking of the 3 classes Andy listed.
  • Oh. What's electricity shop like? and metal shop? and wood shop?
  • Electricity is a lot like math class... You don't really do much physical stuff. You learn about circuits and resistors and stuff like that. You spend all class calculating numbers and the amount of ohms and amps and stuff... Not that fun.

In metal shop you get to create objects such as: a tick-tack toe board, keychain and hammer.

Woodshop you create objects with wood. I recall a jewelery box.
  • Oh. That sounds dangerous.

    Especially electricity..might get paper cuts.

and do teachers give you step by step instructions or are some projects done independently?

If you follow simple safety procedures, you will be fine.
