Student Faculty Volleyball Game

BTHS Sports — By BTHSnews on November 10, 2008 at 10:00 pm

On November 7, 2008, the Varsity Volleyball teams held a fundraiser for an autism outreach program. This charity event was set up by the physical education teacher Ms. D’Augusta to help children that are diagnosed with autism, a brain development disorder that is characterized by impaired social interaction and communication. The event was held to raise funds for IMPACT OASIS, an organization that works with autistic children on building relationships and strengthening self confidence.

The Student Faculty game opened with the National Anthem sung by two fellow Technites . It was awesome to see that some of our favorite (or not so favorite) teachers try their best in playing a game of volleyball against the boys’ and girls’ volleyball team, along with students from Ms. D’Augusta’s advanced volleyball classes. The event started after 9th period, and lasted till around 5:30PM, and included around thirteen volleyball games between the teachers and the students. Every Tech student would be happy to hear that the volleyball team beat the teachers overall, but that’s not to say that the teachers didn’t put up a good game. Besides volleyball, the event also included a performance by Brooklyn Tech’s girls’ step team, The Lady Dragons. Perhaps one of the most memorable parts of the event was when the crowd cheered with incredibly energy for the 11 year old autistic boy (Thomas) who came onto the court to serve a volleyball for the students.

All purchases made at the event will go towards charity. The Student Faculty Game was a huge success, and attracted more students than I thought it would. It was a lot of fun to watch our teachers play (or attempt) to play volleyball against the volleyball team, and it was good to know that all the funds raised would go directly to charity. Ms. D’Augusta and her team are planning for another Volleyball Charity event in Spring. You don’t want to miss it!

A big thank-you to all the faculty and students who participated!

No Homeroom just go to first/second period depending what you start with.

Just leave after you're done unless you have club.

    Probably not.

No. Once per term. Once in September and once in January.

Homeroom = prefect. Prefect is where they give out materials and notices. I'm pretty sure it's on Wednesdays (that's the way it's been, unless they changed it), after the end of pd 3 and before the beginning of pd 4. Teachers, or whoever is doing the announcement, will probably say when it is prefect.

In the morning, depending on when you start, you go to your first class. After your last period, you leave the school... unless you have club.

Talk to your guidance counselor about any schedule changes you want to make.

Most freshman will not get new cycles (I didn't as a freshman or sophomore). I think it's mostly juniors and seniors, because of their majors.

    Hope that helps!

The school will only correct schedules if there was a mistake in programing (wrong class or level) and maybe drop AP class, great connections needed. You do not get to customize your schedule.

If I remember correctly, you can't drop an AP class anymore starting this year. Now they require a parental signature in order to submit an application and then Tech is supposed to collect AP fees early in the year so you can't drop out. I think it's probably because a lot of students signed up for AP's just because they didn't think they would get in but end up getting in all of them.
  • i have no classes on day 6, 9th period... could i leave after 8th period ?
