lol im a tad surprised that no topic about these two handhelds has been made yet. or maybe there is. but anywho, im deciding on whether if i should buy the Sony PSP or not.

i was a nintendo handheld fan. when the PSP was announced, i condemned it. but after i did some research on the handheld, i found many features that i liked. especially the graphics. so now im stuck in the middle. to buy or not to buy the PSP. id appreciate any opinions people have.

from what i know now basically what's killing the PSP is its battery life. it is way too short for a handheld. can be compromised by buying a few more battery packs but that'll just cost more. which leads me to the next problem. it's price. it costs a lot more than a sony ps2 system. so why don't i just go buy a system instead? i have a thing for handhelds. i like portable things. besides PS3 is coming out so buying a ps2... eh

reasons for why i didn't buy the nintendo DS was because i didn't like the games. im a rpg fan. and i think handhelds have some very good rpgs. but DS didn't seem to offer any good rpgs. ok so Sony PSP doesn't either. but i've already thought about getting dynasty warriors and tony hawk skating because i like those games as well and have done a little research on them.

rite, so again if anyone has any opinions of either handhelds, please post them. and also take the poll above thanks :)

DS wins in nearly all aspects. Personally, I prefer neither.

Buy a PS-*battery dies*

Seriously though, they announced the battery lasts 4-6 hours using all of it's features. It's rare that I'll play that long without charging it up.

Many people say that the PSP will be as hot in 2005 as the iPod was in 2004. We will have to wait and see.

hahahha i wish. i know im not getting the DS. the question is to get the PSP or not. yea many people are saying that the PSP is going to be a hot itme. even when i went to the store, the guy working there was like save your money and buy the PSP instead of the DS. probably they just wanted to boost sales but who knows. the battery lfie thing is a bit disturbing. tru i wouldn't be able to stay on a handheld for long. but to recharge every so often ehhh.

PSP Battery life
depends on what you plan on using it for, right? the nintendo ds can last about 10 hours
the nintendo ds wasn't intended to be the gba's successor, and the next game boy might be out this year or something?

Although hand-helds are interesting, I find it boring these days cause there's no use playing them while "traveling". Usually I spend the time studying then playing while traveling. It's time to move on to life, don't stick to these, lol.

lol yea Sony is trying too hard to make it a portable media center. i definitely won't be using it for movies. just as a mp3 player and games. each game is about $50 tho. so yea im still really unsure of whether to get it or not.

Actually, the Nintendo DS is NOT in fact the new Game Boy. The DS was not ment to replace the Game Boy catagory but to create it's own. Rumor has it, the next generation of Game Boy's could be released by Christmas of this year and that it might be called "Game Boy Evolution". The source also added that it will be reveiled E3 in May and that it'll look similar to the PSP with a large LCD screen and analog controls using Game Boy technology with the ability to connect with the upcoming Nintendo Revolution gaming console. They have also integrated the licensed Palm OS platform allowing it to be used as a personal organizer. Estimated price, $99.

Exactly my point. How often does one travel? Would you risk taking it out in public to play? Chances are, they'll stay at home with all the other expensive gadgets unless you're some rich guy.

Point is, there is really no need to buy any of these "Portable Gaming and Media Centers". Save up your money and buy something useful for the long run. Gadgets inevitably fade out, and you'll be stuck with an expensive paper weight. Me? I'll take a camera or another PDA (making that 3 :P) that I can actually take out and use.

i heard that PS3 is coming out soon. they should wait like at least 3 or 4 years before coming out with new stuff. Too much production going on at the same time. too much competition.

psp is too expensive? i belive its pretty cheap. it has expandable memory, many many features and its just beautiful. crisp graphics and you can watch movies ? its like a ipod + dvd player all in one. there is a 20 dollar cd that you can buy to convert your music and movies and transfer to your psp directly. the ds aint really that great, just remaking some n64 games. psp is better and more products are being made for it, such as a better battery, linkups to your tv/monitor, speakers, etc. this has soo many uses while on the road or on a long flight. the issue of being robbed is silly. you dont flaunt your things to others to take. showing off is the dumbest thing you can do. keep to yourself and enjoy it yourself. people got robbed for ipods, nextels, rings, chains, jackets, etc because they became targets. im pretty sure some common sense can get you out of these situations.
keep it simple , keep dreamin fool you never gonna get it
