Last year, applications were available in the beginning of May and applications were due in June. If you got into NHS, NHS would email you an acceptance email and if you were rejected, a rejection email was sent. I think you need 100 hours; juniors needed 50 hours.

Which is in the 1st floor west side, midway between the north and the center (can't remember the exact room number).

Best bet is to go there afterschool or maybe during lunch periods (my period, the room seems to be vacant though)

The NHS office (and former Senior COSA office) is 1W7.

You've still got a couple of months, as Anntan said they do not make applications available until May, so you most certainly have time to get all the necessary materials together (I presume that NHS wants records of your community service for verification purposes) and accumulate more hours to surpass the goal of 100 hours.

Juniors, if you are interested in applying for NHS, I strongly suggest you do it now. The current NHS executives were very close to deciding against allowing in more members in the fall of this year, so don't think you can just get the hours over summer and apply for NHS in the fall. They might not let you in.

I was pretty close to joining NHS, but I chose against it. I know where my priorities lie.

The current officers refused to allow more people in last September, as opposed to in June, if that's what you mean. I don't think that it's the current officers' duty to control the admission over next year's members.

The chance you'll be accepted when get some hours over the summer and apply in the fall is just about 0. So you shouldn't think about applying in the fall, just do it this spring

Hey I'm a sophomore and I was wondering when I could apply for NHS. I have 50 volunteer hrs from the summer of '05 [the one just past] so is that enough? I heard something about like writing an essay or whatnot.. so does anyone know any more information?

Number of hours is stated previously. You have to fill out an application, i think get a recommendation displaying leadership, and write an essay.

Yes, yes, and yes to lola's suggestions.

You have to be in other clubs or school activities that demonstrate your "honorable" qualities, an important one being leadership. You're supposed to write this information on your application and present recommendations from your club advisors. Sports teams also qualify.

Thank you everyone for helping clarify the requirements for admission to BTNHS - the official requirements will be posted on these forums as well as the website sometime in May so checkback soon!

In the meantime, to answer your question: esong's pretty much covered everything except that you're required show proof of having been dedicated (for an extended period of time) to one club/organization/team at tech (i believe the minimum was at least 1 year).
