I went to the meeting after tenth period ended, and I didn't get to listen to all the information that was given. I have a few questions.
-When are the officer applications due, and where can I get one? (I'm not planning to apply, it's for my friend, contrary to what esong27 thinks  )
-When is the open house that was mentioned during the meeting? I heard it was on Brooklyn-Queens Day.
-Also, is it possible to replace a mandatory event with helping out at the Region 8 Arts Festival? My friend told me I could do that.
Thanks for all your help! :)

hey i saw you after 10th...why didn't you come ask me what was up? im always around for kids w/ 10th pd so..yeah. feel free to stop me anytime while im in the course of running around.

1) applications due next meeting, may 18th. questions will soon be posted on nhs website and email will be sent out letting you guys know.
2) open casa? open house was that tours thing we all gave on..like that monday we came back from some vacation. freshman orientation is on brooklyn queens day. remember that math placement test you took when in 8th grade? yeah. we proctor that. we can also give tours to parents. all that fun stuff.
3) you CANNOT replace a mandatory event w/ an event that can be used to make up for another event. unless you have an absolutely valid reason for not showing up, we expect you to be there. its part of the whole HONOR society thing..plus tech is huge, which goes w/out saying, but we really do need all the help we can get. i suggest you straighten out your friend's mindset about how this works.
The Arts Festival is for people who need to make up for an event they missed OR for people that simply wanna volunteer. its on May 13th ..but thats as far as specfic info as i have for now. lemme know if you're interested; ill send more info so you can make a final decision as to whether or not you wanna participate

hope that helped =]

Hey hey ann, what's with singling me out? I don't think about YOU in my spare time!

And P.S. mamony, I think anntann is talking about Alumni Day that she has to miss. Because she, and other NHS Community Service people, including the chair, signed up to volunteer at something called the Big Swim. And plus, some music people have to perform at Alumni Day so we can't be around for the NHS parts. I've spoken to Mr. Kaelin about that though.

To confirm, freshman orientation was moved from May 20th to June 8th, right? I need the date so my club can finish our mural so we can show the prspective freshman what we did and for something else. And yes, one reason why I asked about the mandatory event replacing thing is because of Alumni Day, but it was also for something else.

And esong, I can't stop thinking of you. :P

Esong, you should feel happy (or feel wary), you must be an influential figure!

Ahem, yeah, Bk-Qns Day is on the 8th and unfortunately, so's the freshmen orientation. Somehow, that day doesn't feel special anymore... :(

Oh well, I guess our annual family trip on that day is now broken for the first time in 9 years. And it sounds pretty good, in June, sweating the day away.

If it helps, this year was the first year that all the specialized high schools were supposed to have bklyn-qns day off. And now it's also the first year we're all having our orientations.
