Warcraft? You must have meant to type: "WarCRACK." I've sucessfully managed to keep my hands off that game in fear of having my free time sucked up.

Almost all of my friends were playing WOW, as well as Warcraft III (they had tech specific leagues and everything). And while they basically gave up their summers and much of their free time to the game, it only hurt a couple of them academically.

And then they all just stopped playing.

And thats my story on WOW, as I never played the game before, and I don't plan on it.
It's much easier being politically incorrect.

I used to be pretty addicted to WoW. But I suppose that's because I had so much free time in JHS. Once I realized the game was just an endless ladder of acquiring the next set of gear, I kinda lost my drive for the game.

Because when you realize it, that's all it is, like any MMORPG.
1) You invest countless hours leveling to level 60.
2) You join a raiding guild.
3) You invest hundreds of hours and get the best set of gear around.
4) A new raid instance comes out, with a new, better set of gear.
5) Rinse and repeat steps 3-5, (And then 2 if the guild falls apart, which is always a variable.)

Either way, WoW is just a huge timesink. Personally, I don't enjoy it anymore. When it gets to the point where it takes putting in 4-6 hours a night to get anywhere, the game becomes too much like a job you don't get paid for. [Unless you sell your account of course! ;) Which can make a healthy sum of cash if Blizzard doesn't catch you.]

(If you want a fun game to blow time on, and you enjoy first-person shooters, go for Battlefield 2 [Soon Battlefield 2142]. It doesn't take 6 hours to achieve something. Rather, it takes more like 20 minutes.)

PS. Bloodcleaver, Level 60 Warrior - Zul'Jin (Something like 121 days played <_< So much time wasted. :( )

Right now WoW is sold at Gamestop in 2 versions... 1 is the full 1, and the other is the trial. I suggest you buy the trial one, its $1.99 for a 14 days trial, you get all the features of the full version (i think...) and its cheaper...

World of Warcraft will turn any student with a high GPA into the worst student of his/her school. Yes, it is far too addicting to be played, especially at Tech. Although you might be able to play on some of the longer vacations we will have.

Seriously. Just don't buy it. The level of crazed devotion of people on WoW begins to get sickening, especially after you see guilds who raid every day of the week for 5+ hours. It's a game which the amount of time you put in comes out as reward, and with school on, unless you plan on failing here, time is very short.

Managing time is the key to playing the game... I play it after i've complete my HW which takes up the whole night leaving me 15-30 mins to play, so i don't see what can affect my grades... O yea but i still have to hand over $10 a month, which seems like a waste...
