Pretty much, with very slight modification. Do you have the application? Get it on bths.edu. Go to the tab that says "students" and click "BETA." I recommend you look at the current application if you want to apply, not last year's.

I have a question to the officers-- at the beginning of the year, i think we were told that applications were due in mid october or something, and many people still think that. The fact that they're due thursday was completely not publicized in school. Is there any way of getting word out to those students who still think the app is due in october?

I don't recall anyone saying mid-october, just october, though i apologize if it was misleading. We're putting new posters up on the walls. the deadline has been EXTENDED to Oct 3rd, so you guys still have the 3 day weekend to work on them.

Before the apps were distributed, the due date was said to be late Sept - early Oct. Our first meeting is supposed to be in Mid October.

You know, just because we put up more posters doesn't mean everyone will figure it out. Unfortunately, we cannot announce the due date during third period, which would be the most effective, because the PA system is currently messed up. We can't make thousands of copies to give to each student either.

The application has been advertised by this site, posters, word of mouth, and www.bths.edu for a while now. No one should have waited too long to get the application - they were available right by the lunchroom or online. If students just picked up the application, they would know that the due date was posted on top.

Hopefully the Oct 3 extension helps, but at this point, we're going to keep the due date, unless there are extreme circumstances.

If you know anyone personally who still thinks there's a lot of time before the apps have to be turned in, please tell them when the deadline is. We'd really appreciate it, and so would they. Thanks.

I just posted a long thing here but it apparently did not go through. Now I'll be tired and lazy and write a shortened version of it.

The list is the honor roll list. That just means you have an 85+ average, and it has nothing to do with NHS or BETA, except for the fact that a few NHS kids put up the information on the wall.

Just because you're on the list does not mean you're eligible for BETA. You will need to supplement your 85+ with community service hours to join BETA.

The top ten list means.... that you're among the top ten highest averages in your grade. I don't believe the lists have been updated yet because the stuff for the class of 2006 is still there.

Esong I am in trouble :( I have everything on the application filled-out already, essay, transcript, report card, application, letters verfying my hours. But I am missing my COSA's signature, cause I try to locate her during 1st Period, 7th Period, for the past 2-3 days, but I still cant find her :( . I know 7E4 is close during 7th period (my lunch period), and I think it would be impossible to get my application sign by her, and get it to 7E4 in one day. What should I do?

Do the best that you can. I work in the program office during 5th period so if you can't get the app to 7E4 before the day ends, try to give it to me during that period.

I understand that Mr. Williams' room isn't always open but you'll just have to do the best you can. If need be, I will wait a bit after the 9th period bell in front of Mr. Williams' room to pick up the last applications. That way, if the room is closed then, you can still hand it to me personally.

For anyone else interested, if you have everything else in the application ready but are missing one or two things, submit it anyway. A lot of people have been having trouble with the COSA signatures, so if it absolutely comes to it, leave it blank.

BETA tends to be a lot smaller than NHS due its harder requirements. The numbers vary from year to year. I guess 20-40 is in the ballpark for the amount of members.

Last year, there were approximately 100 members (I think one of the officers told me there were 98 inducted last year; I had around 105 on my email list when I was chairperson last year). There's no way there were only 20-40 kids haha.

Didn't a lot of juniors get inducted last year? If so, that might be a reason why z2z007 was off in his estimate.

30-40? No way, unless you mean the number of people per grade.

Last year there were a total of 96 people. There were at least 70-80 people every year, on the average.
