ATTENTION BETA MEMBERS 2006-2007

NEW MEMBERS You should have all gotten a call from one of the BETA officers telling you that you've been accepted and that the first meeting is on 10/24, inside the teachers' cafeteria.

I've just received word that the Key Club hosts meetings there on Tuesday, so our meeting location is likely to change. We apologize for the miscommunication; we had our meets in the teachers' caf last year with no problem, and had no idea the Key Club chose the same location this year.

I will post updates on this site within the next few days. Please tell your fellow BETA friends of the change.

Congratulations to all the new BETA members!

Don't worry. They'll find some way to contact you about your status, because the officers are uber cool. They probably haven't finished the calls yet, seeing as there's a lot fo people to call. And they'll call everyone, regardless of rejection or acceptance. :-)

Oh my god, why are there so many obstacles for us!

Sorry, I can't change the date anymore. It was supposed to be this Tuesday but we decided that since it's the end of the marking period, everyone would have a lot of work to do.

You guys will be excused if you give us notes at the next general meeting, which will be in the next month.

Angelic- there are so many people who never pick up their phones. We try not to leave voice messages so we can speak directly to the members on whether they're in or not. PM me if you want to ask be directly. If you're a junior, especially, chances are we haven't been able to reach you.

How come you guys gave phone calls? Wouldn't mass e-mails be more efficient?

I'm just curious.

and there are always problems with mass emails. they get bounced back, we can't read handwritings, etc. Besides NHS has kindly lead the example..they had a problem with the emails. And it's sort of a Beta tradition.

There is a good chance that Eid will be on Monday, so, do not worry about that. It all depends on the moon. I don't even know why the 24th was mentioned. From what I know, it is either the 22nd or the 23rd.
Also, if you R changing the meeting place, then, you do not have to give phone calls or mass Emails. Just post a flyer that says that BETA will be meeting at Room <insert room # here>. You can also tell the key members to tell all the people about the location change. You probably already thought of that. I just said this just in case.
Zac has also noticed that most of his friends in facebook really don’t know Zac that well. Many of them only see one side of Zac and really haven’t spent enough time with Zac to know the real Zac. Zac believes that only two of his ten friends actually spent enough time with Zac to know the real Zac. But, recently, Zac isn’t even sure if he knows the real Zac, himself. Zac is starting to think about what has happened over the past year. He is wondering about his new identity. While his personality remains (more or less) the same, his values and his beliefs have changed drastically over the past year. You begin to wonder if any perception is ever written in stone. Just when you think you know enough about the world, you realize you are wrong. Zac doesn’t know what he should be doing in life. He needs a guide. Should we get jobs only becuz they pay a lot? should we try to make more friends when we know they will all leave us soon enough after high school? Does it matter if we express ourselves the way we want to or should we dress, speak and act “cool” like EVERYBODY else? Why does a crush have such a strong influence on a person and why is it so hard to suppress a crush? When is the right time to look for love? Is it worth fighting for a cause that most people ignore? Is ignorance truly bliss? How would Zac’s life be if he didn’t think so much? At one point in time, Zac thought he was the wisest person of his age group. Zac, now, knows he was wrong. He feels that common sense came to him at a later stage in life compared to other people. Zac is now confused and is wondering about what kind of person he has become and what kind of person he once was. Zac does not know which person is the better person.

Oh, that's a relief. I just heard from several people that it'd be the 24th, so I assumed they were right. In that case, don't miss the meeting! :-D

Keep in mind, people go by different moon sightings in different locations around the world, depending on which mosque they follow. There is a huge lack of consistency with when Eid is celebrated.

/\ makes us look very stupid. Many mosques take into acount the moon sighting of their native countries rather than the moon sighting in America (cause them eastern countries see the moon the next day). If people started using common sense once in a while, then, we wouldn't have these problems. but, w/e, I'll probably be there in BETA cause Eid is either monday or Sunday for me. Well, I guess, you can atleast expect almost half of the muslims to come that day.
