Yesterday was the start of the tradition that has maintained this country through trials and tribulations. Of course I am talking about the start of the 2007 baseball season. The Mets kicked things off last night with a strong win over the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Yankees are in the middle of their home openner against the Devil Rays. Things are looking pretty good for the New York teams, but I hope this season turns into something really interesting, as opposed to perhaps the most boring World Series in recent memory. So basically, I'm starting this thread for the men and women of BTHSnews to discuss their loyalties and love for America's game.
Let the discussions begin.

It's much easier being politically incorrect.

The Mets game last night was what should have occurred four times in the National League Championship Series last year. That said, I very much hope (and BELIEVE) that it is the shape of things to come. Let's break 100 wins and grab the World Series while we're at it this season.
Forget the Photon Torpedo. I want a Proton one.

usually the new york teams (no offense) would of had much worse luck, but.... GO YANKEES
You can't expect to do everything, but there is everything to be expected.

Well, THE YANKEES WIN, THE YANKEES WIN!!!! It was a pretty interesting game, though its sad to see Johnny Damon leave the game, especially on Openning Day. It reminds me when Derek Jeter got injured on Openning Day against Toronto a few years back, he was out for two months. Hopefully, Damon gets back on the field soon.
As for the New York teams, we have actually had the most World Series wins for any city. The old New York Giants won the World Series 5 times, the Dodgers won once in Brooklyn, the Mets have won twice, and the Yankees have won 26 times. Thats basically one out of every three World Series' a team from NY has won, and there have been many more that a New York baseball team has been invovled in. Its just been in recent years that there's been a drought for New York. Lets hope it changes this year... WITH A YANKEE WORLD SERIES WIN!!!

Carl Pavano was doing good but then it all fell apart. The Yankees were still able to win it though.

I was extremely impressed with Vizcaino. If he can keep that up for the whole season, thats a super plus for the bullpen. I also hope A-Rod will have a good year. He seems like he gets beat on for everything (though maybe the error today was just cause). One thing that I worry about is Wang. I don't know how he will recover from the injury, and will he possess the same bang that he had last year?
You smell funny.

As a devout Mets fan, I enjoyed the season opener with great enthusiasm. Glavine was superb though he had some rough innings late in the game. The defense was spotless. Though, the pitching staff has a lot rookies but the defense and offense should carry the team. Nevertheless, I do expect great things from their young arms just like in last postseason.
Regarding the Yanks, I believe Pavano is their x-factor. If he can perform just like he did in Florida, it would be a huge plus for the Yanks.
Both the NL East and AL East are much more competitive this year. Who knows? Some interesting surprises may pop up.

I think the real question is "Who gives a crap about the Yankees?"
Mets all the way.
Mets all the way.
