um.. i have a question, in calculating "leadership" when it say 1 pt for each activity done per term, does that mean the amount of clubs or teams you were in throughout your years at tech? so if you are a sophomore now, and you have been in the school for 4 term by the end of sophomore year and you did 1 club each term during that time...thats like 4 points?

also, under "list leadership activities done" do you only write the ones in which you had gain a position like "president, vice president, etc... or do you list all the clubs you have been in?

There is no essay for this year. All will be based on the amount of points obtained through your activities and grades.

As for the leadership points, yes, you are correct. So if you were in a club for 4 terms, that is 4 points. And if you have a position in that club, that will give you a total of 5 leadership points. On the second page, you list all the clubs you have been in, despite having a position or not. If there is not enough room, attach additional sheets (preferably typed and with the same format).

Is each of the individual Beta events we participated in be counted as a separate activity, or are they all labeled under BETA Club?

For every one club you've joined so far, you'll get one point. If you also have a leadership position in the club (president, vp, secretary, etc), that's another point.

So, say you are the secretary of the infamous Goldfish Appreciation Society. You get 2 points under leadership, just for that. The max is five points.

Also it's by term. If you're in the club for a whole year, that'll be two points.

Do we need to attach our transcripts to the application and do we only submit the second page or both of them?

just out of curiosity, on average, how many members do you accept per year?

Another question, perhaps a silly one, do the applicants leave the first page blank - for the officers to fill out and only fill out the second page?

Sorry for the trouble, but there is an updated NHS application.

If you have already downloaded the old version, just attach your transcript, report card, teacher recommendation, photocopy of your SGO card(s), and your volunteer letter(s) with a letterhead(s). Thanks! B)

The new and updated version of the NHS application is ready for download by clicking on the file below:

You need to attach your transcript. This news was updated today.
You only need to submit the second page of the application.

We accept all those who apply that meet the requirements. Last year, I accepted 121 applicants.

You need a recommendation this year from a teacher who you had for at least one year.
We do not rank applicants. Just as long that you meet the requirements, you will be admitted into NHS.

If you do not have a copy of your SGO card, we will ask your COSA for it. However, you must still fill out your list of leadership activities. The only problem is that you may get a delayed acceptance letter from NHS since we have to dig up records. It is best that you give us a photocopy of your SGO card, if you have it.

The recommendation can be from a teacher we have currently (who we had since September 06) right?

In addition does the recommendation have to be any specific format?

on the application it says that 5 points = 150+ hrs of community service, but say you did about 300, would that be an additional 5 points?

EDIT: For all BETA members who would like to be in NHS, I will prepare a letter to NHS saying you've been an active member of BETA for the past year. We are not signing SGO cards until our last meeting in June or the induction, also in June.

If however, you fail to complete the 100 points necessary to get BETA credit, I will let Mary (NHS prez) and Mr. Kaelin know.
