I am an incoming junior who applied to NHS last June. Later that month I was notified that I was missing one point to join NHS. I was told I have either one of two options to get into NHS:
1) To hand in a copy of my freshmen SGO Card by June 21, 2007 and I did exactly that.
2) To volunteer an extra 25+ hours over the summer and give in the volunteer letter by the first week of school in September. And also I am currently volunteering for not only another 25 hours, but 50 hours!
Therefore by the first option, I would have already made it into NHS. So why was I notifed that I did not make it into NHS, when I was told that I could if I did the above??
I emailed Mr. Mr. Kaelin and Jennifer Fung (the secretary of NHS), both of whom did not reply. I also called the school, and was told that there is no staff member in the summer. I am writing this topic, for I do not know what else to do to get in touch with someone regarding this topic. Please, any contact info. and advice would be helpful!

How do I join the Brooklyn Technical High School Chapter of the National Honors Society?

The National Honors Society accepts applications for students going into their junior and senior years. Applications will go out sometime near the end of the year and will be read over the summer. Unfortunately, we can not accept everyone who applies. For an applicant to be accepted, he/she must: 1. Have an average of 85 or higher. 2. Have enough community service(50 for juniors and 100 for seniors). 3. Display his/her leadership in an essay.

They must have had more qualified applicants than they could accept/they said you're missing 1 point so you should try contacting the new President Christie. (i'll message you her e-mail).

p.s. It's only the summer, there's plenty of time in the beginning of the year for NHS to deal w/ this & similar issues.

You know, you're not the only one who didn't get an email. I'm guessing they had a surplus of applicants and they didn't take the people who handed things in late. Happened to a friend of mine.

yea seriously. i had everything in perfect, had enough points, requirements..but didnt get in?

can someone please explain why and let me know mr. kaelin's contact so that i could ask him about my faults.
