Cablevision's Optimum Online isn't actually quite bad.

I'm having a bad night right now and the speed isn't acutally hitting what it's supposed to.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 25386 kbps (3173.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2698 kbps (337.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

I have the following statistics:

download: 6865 kbps
upload: 1597 kbps

Are the above good or bad? I honestly have no idea.

That is a really big difference. I do not think it should be that much.

That's fine...
Your download will always be [much] higher than your upload. The logic is that you are of course going to viewing (or downloading) way more than you will be putting files back on to the internet.

But are those statistics good for cable internet?

It's a bit slow for cable but that's what I was averaging with optonline w/o boost before I moved over to FiOS. Still your speeds are fast enough to do a lot.

How would I go about improving the speeds without changing my internet provider?

You can pay extra for a faster plan.

I think I already pay 50 bucks a month for my current plan. Are the prices really that high for very fast internet connections?

I don't know why you really want to go for faster speeds because your speeds are probably more than sufficient for your needs unless if you are doing some serious downloading on a regular basis.

...and yea prices are that high. I had to pay $50/ month for cable internet before I switched to FiOS also.

Is FIOS faster than the current speeds that I have for Cable. At the same price?

I don't download that much, but when I do I want faster speeds, if I can get the faster speeds at the same price and level of reliability.
