I find it both amazing and refreshing to hear a song with such artistic meaning these days where songs are so ludicrous and random. It sounds pretty retarded but if you can catch the meaning of the song easily I would love to hear your opinion about it.

Ha ha thank you. The song is okay. I thought it was funny and it was actually trying to say something meaningful.

Thank you for your opinions. Although the song could have came off better, I think it has a strong lasting effect. : )

But you listen to pink floyd.... anyways, your just not open to other types of music. In that case i don't really know why your commenting on this thread unless you do find meaning in the song somehow and want to comment on that. Believe me, this song is pretty off from the type of music I mostly listen to. Either way, I thought the song was interesting.

i think it's a cool and funny song. at first i thought it sounded a little like eminem's style but the whole instrumental break is different.
"I'm that dog who saw a rainbow..."

Yeah it does kind of sound like eminem, although I think it had a little rock in it. I'm not quite sure.

The video itself is kind of odd because it doesn't seem to match the prespective near the end or it's just me(Beginning is more like the guy walking who is centered in the music but later it becomes more apparent it's not).
I see some government oppression in there and anarchism in there as the meaning and maybe a bit more.
Overall this song is great. It has a nice mix of "rap" which it's categorized as and alternative.
I usually listen to rock,nu metal, punk, alternative, ska(fast paced rock music with trumpets, saxophone, jazz stuff), and other styles, so this song doesn't come off too wierd or out of normal for me.

I actually think that the video screwed up the meaning of the song by making the viewers relate most of the meaning to politics. I actually think that the meaning is that as humans we can achieve so many things and have already reached great heights. However, because of all the great achievements we accomplish, we strive for more power. More power in terms of control, glory, admiration, etc.. This would lead us to use violence or other means to obtain this power.
In the end it comes down to all the achievements that we had in the past accumulated so that we keep on striving for more to no end. Also, those achievements soon developed into something more dangerous and fearful.
I think that is what they're getting at.

Hey, I just heard that song in some store today when I went shopping, LOL.

Here's a fairly recent song (well, it's from 2003 but I consider anything after 1990 to be recent...) that I guess also comes from a similar bloodline.

It's called So Says I by the Shins

"But We Still Can't Just Behave Ourselves
Even If To Save Our Own Lives So, Says I, We Are A Brutal Kind."
Dark matter flowing out on to a tape
Is only as loud as the silence it breaks

- Porcupine Tree, Dark Matter

It's interesting how these songs with interesting meanings have such strange/ trivial videos.

Strange videos is what keeps up the interest and helps make it stand out.

Calling Pink Floyd !@#$ music is quite the failtastic statement. And you can't really say I'm not open to music when I listen to many genres, including outlaw country and bluegrass. I'm just not open to !@#$ music.
