Any T-mobile users out there? I know I can't be the only one in all of Tech.

Anyways, T-mobile's HTC Dream phone might look like an iPhone, but (according to the computer techs that I'm working with- they're T-mobile too, whoo), it is miles improved. I won't get into the technical stuff, especially since I can't seem to pronounce half the stuff they were saying, nevermind remembering it, but according to them, the HTC Dream phone is sturdier than Apple's flimsy iPhone, the graphics are better, the internet is faster, and best of all, it has a keyboard. The HTC Dream phone is run on Android, the same as Google.

The price is pretty steep though. Around $400. Yikes! But if you are a T-mobile customer, you can get it for the low(er) price of around $200! *throws away her old Sony Ericsson w600i.

More information here : http://www.phonemag....hone-031838.php.

I'm not sure if it is already out though. I just overheard the techies talking about it, and asked them to explain. Something like HTC is definitely useful, it's just not something I'd bring to Tech :P

It is not due out until October. Will it work with their Hotspot-at-home service?

Nothing's gonna beat the iPhone in this phone generation. If something does, Apple will just release the next-gen upgrade to it that will easily beat the competition.

The iPhone is pretty well sturdy.

And, people are going crazy developing iPhone apps. Not so much Android. Apple knows how to build entire product eco-systems. There's a reason why they're murdering everyone. The real showdown is between Apple and RIM.

Apple has no competition, as long as the App Store keeps paying developers tons of money, there's gonna be more awesome apps and more people buying iPhones to take advantage of them. There's apps that improve every single aspect of the phone, making it almost endlessly extensible. Plus there's jailbreaking, which allows people do do even more with their phone by allowing 3rd party apps.

There's really no reason for somebody to not buy an iPhone, apart from the price of it. But it's definitely worth it.

I wouldn't say there's no reason to not buy an iPhone. There are very real [often business] reasons. BlackBerry still runs that market, and for good reason.
But the argument that the Dream trounces the iPhone is laughable at best.

As of iPhone OS 2.0, Microsoft Exchange, Cisco, and push email is supported.
They're having problems integrating push notifications, but Apple will figure it out.

Yes, I know. But that's only the tip of the iceberg.
Not to mention, for power email users...that screen is sinfully annoying to type on.
I like the iPhone. A lot. But BlackBerry has its advantages, too.

I'm not saying I don't like the BlackBerry...
Apple will inevitably beat out its market share pretty soon though.

That's from Q3 2007. The 3G iPhone has been out for over a month now, plus it's been at least 9 months from then.

There is a significant difference between having a large market share of a subclass of phones and having a large market share of ALL phones.
Do you get it yet?

I thought you were the least confused person on the forum...

I'm saying BlackBerrys are smartphones.
iPhones are smartphones too.
So we're comparing market share of iPhone and RIM... which is the smartphone market share.
Right? I'm seeing Awad's comparing phone market shares overall though.

You have shown the iPhone's market share in the smart phone market. I have shown RIM's market share in the entire mobile phone industry. Smart phones are a part of the greater mobile phone industry. I am proving to you that not only does RIM murder the smart phone industry (at least in USA), it has a sizable portion of the ENTIRE phone industry.
