What is the KEY Club?

The KEY in KEY Club stands for Kiwanis Educates Youth. We are the oldest and largest service program for high school students. KEY Club is an international and student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Caring is our way of life.

Why Should You Join The KEY Club?

Although there may be other service clubs being offered here at Tech, KEY Club is guaranteed to be your best choice. This year, meetings will be held on Mondays, immediately after 9th period instead of Wednesdays, after 10th period. Each month there will be at most two meetings, but you will still be getting the same amount of credit. It’s two for the price of one. KEY Club is an experience that you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Does KEY Club offer volunteer hours?

We are asked this question a lot and the answer is, yes. KEY Club does offer many events that will give you documentation for your service hours. We will try to get you service hours in as many events as we can.

What are dues?

Because KEY Club is an internationally led organization, we as a club have to pay dues once a year. Dues this year for each member will be $14.00. We do not make a profit from these dues; we send them directly to KEY Club International. The sooner we can get these dues in, the more benefits our club can earn. So please, bring in your dues early this year! Try not to look at dues as too expensive or a waste. Your $14.00 won’t be going to waste; it will be a step towards club credit.

What can I do to earn points?

Our club is run on a unique point system in which you can easily earn points throughout your year as a KEY Club member. It is required that you earn 100 points per term. Since we will have fewer meetings this year, you can only have two unexcused absences per term which is not a lot to ask. We will offer more than enough opportunities for you to earn enough points.

Induction and Convention

During spring, members will get the chance to go to Convention. Convention is a three-day long trip in which we go to Upstate, New York to meet other KEY Clubs in New York State and also win awards. It’s truly one of the most memorable experiences you can have. Induction will be held at the end of the year to congratulate all of those who have earned their credit. It’s awards, free food, and free fun. As Induction and Convention nears, we’ll be sure to keep you posted!

KEY CLUBBER OF THE MONTH

Each month, we’ll award this to one KEY Clubber who has made the most impact on our club. More details to come.
