Classic rock (which encompasses progressive rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, glam rock, mod rock, southern rock, country rock, blues rock, soft rock, piano rock, folk rock, jazz rock, canterbury scene, art rock, and probably more that I can't remember), outlaw country, blues, folk, and bluegrass. Definitely not rap, hip-hop, and the vast majority of modern rock. That crap sucks.

And my top five artists:

Pink Floyd
The Beatles
The Who
Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones

I'm mainly a classic rock fan too, but I also love a bunch of modern bands like Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Dream Theater, Katatonia, Spock's Beard, The Shins, Beulah, Bright Eyes etc.

My top 5 bands:
Pink Floyd
Porcupine Tree
Radiohead
Yes
Deep Purple

Rock - Bon Jovi, Styx, Rolling Stones, 3 Doors Down, Alice Cooper

Metal and all its subgenres ie death metal, black metal, "goth metal", symphonic metal/opera metal - Nightwish, Wintersun, Underoath, Freedom Call, DragonForce, Rhapsody(Of Fire), Within Temptation

Pop - Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, M2M,

Techno - Eifel 65, E-Nomine,

Oriental Pop (Jpop, Mandopop, Kpop)
Jpop - Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru, Megumi Hayashibara
Kpop - DBSK, Hyori Lee, BoA Kwon, Bi-rain
Mandopop -Jay Chou, Jolin Tsai, S.H.E

I have a pretty wide range of music, but I tend to stay off American mainstream music.
My all-time favorite bands, I'd say would be Within Temptation (Gotta love Sharon den Adel; she has the voice of an angel) and Nightwish before they replaced Tarja Turunen with Annette Olzon.

As an ex-Brooklyn Technite, my musical preferences are: Classical, Jazz (usually Jazz Fusion; can't take "straight up Jazz" too much), Ambient, Trance and Rock (all but heavy and punk rock).

For Korean music, just about anything goes, with the exception of Pansor'i (never found a performer reciting a story endlessly for hours at a time with drum backdrops as terribly exciting or entertaining).

I love everything. I feel that if it's good to my ears, I'll like it. Music is Music, and I feel that if you truly love music, you are open to many different styles and can appreciate them. But I listen to rock mainly, from "classic" to modern.
