Windows 7 is awesome. Been using the Beta and then RC for around half a year or more, highly recommend it. Less RAM usage, better organization and design, and it's fast for the love of god.

I'm currently running on Vista(sadly), and I've been using vista for more than a year now and I honestly have not experienced anything that horribly frustrating. Yes I've gotten trojans and keyloggers but that was my fault, I don't understand why it's bashed so much. Either way I'll get windows 7 because an upgrade can't hurt...or can it? 0.0

Vista gets bashed because it's not compatible with a lot of games :\

Windows 7 really is an improvement. It has the stability of XP with the nice interface of Vista. I've been running Windows 7 professional(Final Release through MSDN) on my Macbook pro for the past 3 weeks, I highly recommend it.

If your college doesn't have a MSDNAA subscription, you can get Win 7 Home Premium or Win 7 Pro for $30 with a .edu address.

Just note if you are eligible and register, the pro link is buried underneath claiming:
"Need to join your school’s network domain? You can also get Windows 7 Professional for $29.99 Click here"

7 is not an arbitrary number. It's the seventh official release of Windows.
Actually, it's the seventh revision of the NT kernel.

^What he said.
windows 3.1 -> windows 95 -> windows 98 -> windows 2000 -> windows xp -> windows vista -> windows 7
windows 3.1 -> windows 95 -> windows 98 -> windows 2000 -> windows xp -> windows vista -> windows 7
You missed Windows ME, and all of the versions of Windows NT.
Also, old topic may be old, but it's still on frontpage and is therefore relevant to my posting interests.
