Read this article, as everyone knows how !@#$py and vulnerable IE is. It is about time more and more people start switching to Firefox.

Hey! We don't have to go to Firefox you know, we can use Netscape or Opera.

The thing is, once hackers realize that there are more people using Firefox than IE, hackers will start working on hacking into Firefox, and I'm sure they can find flaws in it.

That is true but for the meanwhile Firefox is a much better browser. To my opinion, the other browsers suck. hehe

Yeah we've all heard your ranking of the browsers a while back...but you just wait...Firefox is going to become the new IE in terms of popularity and viruses. Have fun with your open source turd of a browser.

I never said I would be using it forever and IE dominates the market by huge percentage.

I use Firefox 99% of the time since zafir recommended it to me a while ago. I still use IE sometimes on IE-centric sites.

I like certain features of Firefox more like the download manager and how it can import settings, but it doesn't come embedded with a mail program of it's own.

And I like Netscape a lot because it comes with AIM in the sidebar rather than keep a separate program open.

anyone heard of that? hehe i love that browser program. its like Mozilla except for one major difference... IT IS NOT BASED ON NETSCAPE! W00T! they make constant updates and it is skinnable too. very friendly interface and if you're an IE user, it won't be hard at all to learn how to use this. (and it won't have problems viewing any sites at all unlike the Mozilla based Netscape) it also supposedly is faster than other browsers (i have cable so its already fast). try it, great browser program. has been recommended by TechTv.

I don't see how it's faster, they all appear to have the same rendering features.

You should never use Mozilla for anything wit ha credit card though, and even some simple passwords.

People use Netscape because it was the first and is still the best in interent security. We never get hacked or viruses.

Mozilla Firefox was created with the intention that it would be the stand-alone browser version of Mozilla. Thunderbird is the complementary mail client for Firefox.

to me the flaw is in the netscape. cuz some/many sites you can't see with netscape. but with that comes with security. i might have to agree with that because avant browser is still new. but im still young and i don't do a lot of top secret stuff and with Zone Alarm im quite confident that i won't be hacked or virus intrusions. so yea i'd still go with avant.

Keep on defending Firefox....I can't wait until the first virus...muhahahaha!!
Still, it doesn't have AIM embedded and it lacks the security of Netscape. Also I don't think it's rendering engine is all that different. It's just IE without the the popups, really.

You're right, Avant has had a lot of problems including lots of freezing. It was originally AvantGo for Handheld devices, right? Why did they switch to regular PC's anyways?

i don't know abt the history of avant. but i remembered they used to be called IEOpera or sumthing like that. then they became avant broswer. yea it did freeze a lot before. but its gettin better with every update. still love it though since its so close to IE you won't have to worry abt tryin to get use to a new interface (for past IE users looking for a new broswer)

There's not much getting used to for new browsers because people usually make a skin for every other browser to use. I use the Netscape skin on my Firefox on the rare occasions I use it.

Regarding Netscape, it pretty much died when it absorbed into AOL. Knowing AOL, they create !@#$py stuff. AIM itself is a security risk. The only reason I use it is because everyone else (in the US) is on it. Europe and Asia prefer MSN messenger. I wonder if Chatzilla (Firefox's IRC clent) can be modified to become a versatile multi-IM client like Trillian. The thing is that I hate Trillian, otherwise I would be using it. lol

I don't know what you mean by "it died." It's still used a lot. You can look at the site statistics and see that. The only reason IE is so widely used is because it comes with practically every new PC nowadays.

There are many other builds of AIM that are good, like GAIM and DeadAIM. I use one from RoadRunner though, it's free and it incorporates MSNm, YIM, ICQ and AIM all in one. I haven't had any problems with that. Yeah, AOL did suck when I had it, but they never, ever modified the Netscape code.

Is Chatzilla open-source also?

No matter how bad it becomes with IE, Microsoft will still retain a monopoly, IE will remain #1 and be the subject to most of the attacks. Just look at Macs vs. Windows. Macs are immune to 99% of all viruses yet a lot of us predominantly use Windows.

Wretched is abosolutely right. Also it's more than 99%. Like .017% of all viruses are for Mac/Unix.
