Phil Schiller gave the keynote and introduced some new stuff, including iLife and iWork '09.
Also, Steve Jobs announced his temporary leave from Apple to focus on his current health problems. He is planning to return in the summer.
As recently announced on the Apple website, the app store has reached over 500 million app downloads, and is on track for a billion at a steadily increasing rate of app store usage.
Coming from the jailbreaking side of the scene, the iPhone Dev Team has released their unlock for the iPhone 3G, called "yellowsn0w" and are currently developing the jailbreak for the 2nd generation iPod touch, codenamed "redsn0w". With the release of the jailbreak, the thousands of owners of the iPT2G will be able to open their device and allow in a world of possibilities as can be done right now with the iPhones and the first iTouch. The 3G unlock as also proved successful among its users, and people all over the world are using with their native cell carriers successfully.
With these new developments, what's next for Apple?

And it's true that redsn0w is really complex, a tethered jailbreak was released followed by a semi-tethered jailbreak. The iTouch 2G was really forcefully hardware modified by Apple to patch up exploits. The dev team is looking through the iTouch's bootrom right now to find another low-level exploit. It's just the fact that it performs tons of signature checks on the firmware and boot programs and it's hard to find a software exploit to bypass those since they're at such a low level. This is why you have to patch the iTouch when you reboot, since you need to manually insert the patch after one signature check is failed.

You would want a Macbook strictly for its design and/or tech support. Failing that, you want a Macbook because every other schmuck on campus has one.
Not because it's more stable and more work oriented. That's a marketing myth (and a very successful one at that). My Windows setup is quite stable, well-maintained and conducive for work (though I've seen better). Also helps that my non-descript Toshiba laptop has a layout that's also conducive for work.

Macs are excellent at photography and video editing. Photoshop is easier to use on it as well. It's not really a myth. There's way more viruses that infect PCs rather than Macs. Plus, since there's less games compatible with the Mac, you can spend less time procrastinating! Haha.
Besides, Vista sucks.
