I have a bluetooth headset that works on my mobile phone. I am trying to connect it to my laptop so i can use it as a mic. I've searched online and found many ways on doing this for Microsoft Windows XP SP(Service Pack) 2. However, i've updated my computer to SP 3 a few months ago, and apparently bluetooth is gone for SP 3 or something. One option is to downgrade back to SP 2 which i don't want to do because it will take a long time and might corrupt some of my other programs. If someone can help me connect a bluetooth headset to a computer running Microsoft Windows XP SP3, i will greatly appreciate it.

its the same as doing it in SP2
when u upgraded to sp3, u might have lost the drivers for the bluetooth receiver in your computer
u can google: (computer model) bluetooth driver
download and install - and then regular procedure, same as sp2

Use the msinfo32 tool. Here are some ways to access it:
1) “Start” > “All programs” > “Accessories” > “System Tools” > “System Information”
2) "Win+R" > Type "msinfo32" and press enter
The rest is self explanatory...

Actually, turns out i know how to find my computer model. However, i have read online that some laptops have built-in bluetooth and some don't. If i go into my device manager, i don't even see a category for bluetooth. Does this mean i can't have bluetooth unless i buy an adapter? I really want to be able to enable bluetooth on my laptop without using an adapter.

If it's not in device manager, most likely the bluetooth module is not installed in your laptop. It seems like you have two options:
1) Buy the module so you can install it in your computer
2) Buy an adapter that you can connect using ports that are on the computer

Is there a way so that i can download a software online for free and it allows for bluetooth. Or if i were to use the usb adapter to a wireless mouse, can i use it as a bluetooth adapter for my bluetooth headset?
