Do you think it would be feasible to start a paintball club at brooklyn tech? I have enough knowledge of the sport, and have a few connections with fields to effectively run such a club. Would anyone be interested in joining? I have a friend at stuy who is trying to start a paintball club there, we could have a Stuy Vs. BTHS Paintball tournament, that'd be a nice addition to our 40-0 win against them in football. Also I'm wondering if clubs get any funding from the school? I think it would be a really fun club, paintball teaches teamwork and sportsmanship.

So would anyone be interested in joining?

also if your wondering, statistically, paintball is safer then bowling.

Clubs can request funding for equipment but that is only up to 500 dollars a year.
The difficulty I see is that you HAVE to go to the paintball range for club. We certainly can't have students running around school with paintball guns. It can also be difficult to have an adviser who will look after you because the club is outside of school.

It seems like a pretty cool club. I might join. And clubs do get funding however you have to apply for the funding and I'm not sure you could get funding at this point. We (SGO) already distributed the funding we got to the clubs/teams that filled out an application at the end of the year.

However, don't let that stop you. I think it would be an interesting idea to have a paintball club. If you want more input on it, then you can consult Mr. Williams during your lunch period or after school.

Does the adviser have to come with us when we go to the field, couldn't he just sign off on it. We could spend time learning about strategy and terminology while meeting in the school, then go to the field, maybe for that tournament I mentioned, every month or two.

Yes. There must be adult supervision at the Tech field. If you are asking about outside fields, check their rules and regs.

You mean outside tech, like at a paintball field. I'm close with the owner of a paintball field, and i'm sure I'd be able to work something out regardless of the advisor.

I would teach on the days we meet, maybe we would go to the gym so I could demonstrate somethings. then, every month or two, we would go to a field and play. maybe have a Tournament against other teams/Clubs

We can rent from the owners of the field. I'd join this club But going to actually play every 2 months is a bit too much. I'd be fine with every month

This definitely looks fun. I found a place thats in Queens, called NYC Paintball. We could get there on the G train for 11 stops then transfer to the 7 for 2 stops. The place has a school discount (if we're not doing a tournament) of $32 per person. Otherwise it is $36 per person Mon-Thurs with unlimited playtime, and $42 per person on Fri-Sun with 3 hours of playtime. If we have 15+ people then we get a 10% discount and the leader plays for free.
So we have 11 people so far who want to join. This would cost $352 per time if we did it without tournaments. Is the budget $500?

It's too expensive for my tastes.

It's extremely expensive, $32/wk/person is too much. Also the leader being free part would just be subtracted from the cost of paying as a group. So rather than everyone paying 36, everyone would pay 32 or w/e and the leader would pay too. But yeah, too expensive to make it work either way.

Didn't someone say that the clubs get like $500? Also playing paint ball every time we meet would be ridiculous! As that guy said earlier, we would probably spend most of our sessions practicing strategies or something
