Famous? There's no such thing as a famous major, everyone knows all the majors.
SSR has a reputation for being mainly a female major, atleast this year.
A lot of people choose SSR, that & bio-med are the two hardest majors to get into.
But if your grades are high, you'll be alright.

It was concentrated toward engineering while we were free to choose APs as major course requirements instead of being locked into a specific concentration. For my year, we took POE followed by Biotech Engineering in our senior year.

Less restrictions and MUCH greater flexibility. The IAS major revolved around completing requirements for the APID which left many students with few choices for AP electives because you had to choose the specific ones in order to meet the requirements. With less restrictions, it is more flexible and hopefully if more students choose it, more sections can be opened up - which will also lead to greater flexibility in senior year. Instead of taking AP of Science or Math, students can choose other science and math courses such as Anatomy, Genetics, Differential Equations etc. In addition, if there are more sections of College Prep, then more sections of the PLTW elective can be selected by students. Back in my year we only had 1 section of IAS so the majority of the students decided what the PLTW elective was going to be senior year. So if 30 students out of the 34 in my class wanted PLTW Biotech Engineering and I wanted Digital Electronics, that wouldnt be possible because 1) I can't intrude into the Electrical Engineering Major's DE class because it's full and 2) It would be impossible to offer it for me and the 3 other kids interested in taking it. Sure, 1 section of 4 students for 1 teacher sounds awesome but I think we'd be in the red zone in terms of budget.
I was pretty disappointed when I first learned Mr. Asher replaced it with college prep but after looking at how it offers greater flexibility in terms of courses, I was on board. This only works if multiple sections open up. If only 1 section of students fill this major up then it'll be IAS all over again minus the APID requirements. I did hear that choosing college prep is automatic placement. So if I put Media first and I didn't qualify for that based on my PI, and I put College Prep as my 2nd chose, I would be granted that choice. I think that's how it goes. If I'm wrong, I'm sure the Principal will clarify.

Why do we have to wait until March 30 to get our results? Does it take that long to finalize and distribute the results or is it because of the parent teacher conferences? Or perhaps there's another reason?
