I don't know if you'd consider this as corruption, but i do.
A person works in the flea market, selling the same thing as the 99cent store does. The cops raid the place, arrests the person and charges the person for selling of "counterfeit" merchandise. It happens to be that the person is not a citizen. The amazingly stupid part of this story is that ANOTHER state decides to press charges against the person for their STORAGE compartment. The storage compartment happened to be about a few yards away from the flea market, however it was considered to be part of another state. The charges from the other state was closed. I believe this was an attempt from the other state to get some easy cash from the person. Hitting the person while they were down.
The first charge was paid for, and the other was closed. Now there was another charge from the state, this time because the person was an illegal immigrant. However, i still believe this is an attempt take some easy cash from a person. The person had 250k taken from their storage compartment and their merchandise. If the person loses the case, the money goes to the state, if the person wins the money goes back to them. The person has their whole family in the United States right now. The person came to the U.S.A at the age of 14, worked to have everyone in the family come as Legal Immigrants. The entire family is now U.S. citizens, except for the person. They person has two kids to take care off. The person could get a green card, however the Judge said the person has to go back to their country in order to apply for it. Now this would mean losing the case, which means giving the state 250k$.
I've also heard from my teachers that lots of other states HATE New York. The person happens to be from New York.
Another thing little thing that made me believe this is all an attempt to make easy cash for the state. A few stands down from the person's stand there was an old couple (also not citizens) selling counterfeit designer handbags, such as Coach, Gucci, etc. The old couple only got away with a little fine. This made me believe that the State did not want to seem bad, for picking on an old couple. Instead they decided to go after a younger person, so it would not seem so bad.
* This has been on my mind for a while. This little "rant" was just to blow of some steam and share some thoughts...
Corruption in the states.

Is there an article on this? And I think the statement that other states hate New York is baseless and kind of silly. Even if the state governments maybe corrupt in certain ways, I highly doubt they'd jeopardize their credibility to "settle the score," or to "show that state who's boss." The Articles of Confederation has been gone for a while now.

Nope no article. If it was an article it would be much more reliable. Mh.. i suppose a state wouldn't "settle the score".

US can only give out green card to people outside the country based on your specific case. It a way to check who come in and who does not. They are priorities like marriage, children and close family. If you broke the law to come here, why should i help you more then those that waited in line, from worse conditions in some cases.

omg, conspiracy. 250k is pennies for the states. Trust me, states like California which are going bankrupt (massive debt) need the money more than any other ones. Actually, NY is piling up debt too. I don't think states near NY are that desperate yet. I also don't think the "state/s," whoever or whatever you are actually talking about, would hunt down individuals for pennies and mess with free enterprise.
If the guy is illegal, then deport him and confiscate his goods and profits. Nothing wrong about that.
