So, I wanted to know, to get from spanish 2 to spanish 3, is there a proficiency you have to take?

Also, my friend claims that in 7th grade, he was in spanish 1. 8th, he moved up to spanish 2 and took a proficiency. Now, being a freshman, he says he is taking the regents this year. Is this true, and is it possible? He is also learning spanish 2 things, and is a little ahead of me in my spanish 2 class. Is there someone like Spanish honors that enables you to take the regents a year earlier, kind of like English Honors?

Proficiency only gives credit for Spanish I (1st year) so you start in Spanish II as a freshman and reach Spanish III as a sophomore. The regents comes after Spanish III.

So that would mean that my friend is lying about something, because you may not move to spanish 2 unless you have completed the proficiency, right?

Right, if your friend's a freshman than chances are that they're lying or aren't up to date on the foreign language policy.

Okay, first off, i had spanish I in 7th grade... 2nd, i took spanish II (yes, im certain) in 8th, and at the end of the year i took the proficiency. this year, i know that i've moved to the next level (yes, i AM learning more 'advanced' stuff, if you could say that), than, supposedly, michael over here. from what i understand, i am taking the regents this year. in my class (i have ms. pena), there are plenty of sophomores, and several freshman like myself. so either there is some miscomunication/misunderstanding on my part, or i'm taking it... which i know i am... if anybody could possibly clarify, please do (and no, i'm not lying)

Unless if it changed, it sounds like you got placed in Spanish II and will take the regents at the end of sophomore year after Spanish III. In the normal sequence, you take Spanish I and take the regents at the end of junior year instead.

Most of the students that enter Tech move on to Level II of their language because they've taken the accelerated track in middle school and passed the proficiency.

You're taking Spanish 2 presently. You'll be in Spanish 3 next year, which is when you'll be taking the regents.

Im an incoming freshman as well .
You see my situation is different from yours...
I've already taken Spanish Regents nd passed with a 96 ... Does that mean i'll be taking Spanish AP in 9th grade ?
Nd if im not allowed does that mean ill have to repeat the class ? i do not want to study another language . Is it possible for me to receive a different class and replace it with my foreign language ?

If you passed the Spanish REGENTS - NOT THE PROFICIENCY - with a 96, then you would have satisfied your language requirements. You can opt to take another language OR, be the coolest freshman and have 1 less class than everyone!

Yeah, make sure it was the Regents and not the Proficiency. People mix up the two all the time.
