I know it's mandatory that we go both nights, but what happens if we only go to one night or if we don't go at all?

Parents and their 10th graders are invited to an informational event about the Tech Majors Selection Process
Wednesday March 10th- Majors Selection Night for Sophomores 6pm-8:30pm in the Auditorium
Thursday March 11th - Majors Selection Afternoon for Sophomores 3pm-5:00pm in the Auditorium
It is mandatory that the Sophomores attend at least one of the Majors Select Event

You're at lost if you don't go. No one else.

Don't screw yourself over for the next two years because you hate your major.
Just go. You will be able to speak with upperclassmen who can answer your questions about the major. Ask teachers questions, etc.

Yea. Go if you need more information about a particular major.

It's helpful to go if you're not 100% sure of which major you want to be in. The most common case in my experience is when kids who think they know a lot about computers take computer science and end up crying over their failing/near failing grades.

I still want to go, but I was just making sure that if I can't make the both meetings, for whatever reason it may be, that I wouldn't get in trouble or anything like that.

Its mandatory to attend AT LEAST ONE meeting.

You should still go to one of the Sessions. It is very helpful to communicate with students already in the major. Don't be hit with a curveball when you get in.

I know I've worshiped the hell out of Media in this forum section, but this topic just brought back a fond memory.

While at my major selection night last year, I knew little to nothing about the choices. I was flipping through the booklet they handed out in the auditorium and I stumbled upon Media. At first I was a bit dismissive since the very name "Media" didn't make the major sound very artistic, nor did the description of it do it justice.

But when I walked into that Media room... Augh.
The pristine bright white layout... The drawings being displayed on the computers... The short films and storybook-like animations made from power point... It was like love at first sight. I found something I liked about Tech. I almost thought I was dreaming.

Basically, I ended up being one of the first ones to enter the room and the very last person to leave after the night was over. I only left the room during the major night to investigate Industrial Design, since it appeared similar to Media in the booklet, but when I got to the ID room... I didn't stay for longer than a minute. With the exception of that trip to ID, I spent every minute of that night basking in that little corner of heaven...

The despairing thought of not getting into the major did come to mind and I consulted a few seniors and two of the media teachers about my grades and new found desire to get in, but they did their best to keep my hopes afloat and I spent every second in that room with a look of happiness and wonder on my face.

Major selection night was actually kind of disappointing. Most of the majors I visited was just a bunch of people saying that I should join their major because it's the best *cough*math*cough* and some didn't even realize we were there until we were leaving *cough*architecture*cough*. But the biggest problem we had was that nobody was really telling me anything about any of the majors. Sure we should have asked questions, but how could we have asked any questions if we didn't even know anything about the major in the first place? I guess it was a little cool to see some of the rooms...
