Just wondering, anyone here bought a new PC with the new PCIe technology or AMD technology? Apparently, summer is when a lot of people buy PCs.
Anyways, what pc do people here have?

I have a 2.4 GHz Dell. It's not suped up, but when I'll be 18 i shall get a good computer or laptop 4 college.

You should wait till PCIe goes full blown. Currently there is only like one PCIe x16 and one PCIe x1 slots available in computers now. ... and there isn't even any PCIe x1 cards out yet.

They are much faster. PCIe x16 replaces AGP and PCIe x1 replaces regular PCI.

PCI Express delivers 2x the bandwidth of the AGP bus. read about it @ www.intel.com or just google it.

I have two macs (but lets forget them because they're macs) and this Gateway 400x. 2.53 GHz Pentium 4 Processor, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HD, 15.1" XGA TFT Screen, and a pretty good battery life if you consider how much of a power-laptop it is. I love this computer!

I have an eMachines M6805
The name still sucks to have, but the quality is no longer !@#$py like it was in 1999. The specs are also quite good for the price, which was about $1450. Mobile AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Processor + Mobility Radeon 9600 = yay.

My desktop, on the other hand, sucks.
Dell Dimension 8100.
P4 Williamette (sigh) 1.33ghz
Nvidia TNT2 M64 (worst tnt2 of the line)
256mb RDRAM (sigh+2) RDRAM sucks.

PCIe is going to be big, like DDR RAM was (hopefully it wont turn out like Williamettes did). I believe its also coming to laptops, but I wonder how it will affect the battery life.

Oh, and Elyubarov, why do you underclock your p4? Is it because of overheating?

Why would you say that, macs are good. I like the new g5's dual 2 ghz 64 bit processors, thats power. Why do people look down upon macs. The g3's and stuff sucked but not the g5's.

I didn't say they weren't good, the subject of this thread is "PC."

I think these days "PC" has become synonymous with "Windows-based computer."

Who cares if it's a stereotype? It's just the way it is.

This is a good thing. And Emacs did not come out when you were in 3rd grade, they are fairly new.

I have an old iMac; eMacs are that only bigger and with more ports, essentially.
