From what I've heard no it doesn't. But you should keep in mind that what you major in at Tech should be what you would want you major in college (e.g. Don't major in Media if you want to major in architechture in college).

Absolutely not. I'm majoring in Biomedical Science at UB and I was in IAS (College Prep now)...I wonder how that happened. lol

Ditto, even though IAS isn't really specific to one field of study. But Nicky's hit the nail on the head, go for whatever you're interested in, if you find out that you don't like it than major in something else in college. Tech's classes are meant to introduce you to a field, you're by no means obligated to pursue that field post high school. Oh, and don't worry about majors right now, you'll still have quite some time before you need to pick one.

The majors will not handicap you one way or another as you enter college. The basic Brooklyn Tech curriculum covers all of the basic college preparatory classes that are required for college applicants. With my understanding that there are more sections of AP classes available to all students (and not just students in particular majors), anyone can build an impressive academic record at Tech.

The majors are helpful to people who may have an idea of what they want to study in college. The major classes attempt to emulate the introductory classes in these disciplines, the majors give you a chance to start exploring while you are in Tech, and when there is no tuition bill. You can either use the major to prepare yourself for the classes that will start a degree, use it to test out a discipline of study, or just study something that you enjoy but have no interest in majoring in at college. Tech majors do not handicap you in college, these classes are just electives.
It's much easier being politically incorrect.

I completely agree.
I was in the Chemistry major at tech but I'm doing Electrical Engineering at college, the least it did was eliminate the general chem requirement the major has(for whatever reasoning they have for EE majors to do so). But it also did help me eliminate the sciences as a path.

I agree. What you choose as a major in Tech would not necessarily be your major that you choose in college, however the AP and tech courses associated to the majors in Tech will give you a head start on college readiness and classes. If you want to go to an engineering or technical school, going with a similar major would be useful as it will most likely increase your chances of being accepted, and you would have to learn similar subjects as a requirement for that major. The same applies to any other subject of interest.
You can't expect to do everything, but there is everything to be expected.

I'd think that the major you choose should help you out in the future if you plan on taking the same major in college

The major you choose in Tech will help you out in college should you do the same in college. For example, if you want to be a biomed major in college, and you take biomed in Tech, you will have learned a lot of the material already thanks to the great courses that Tech offers for the majors. However, if you don't know what you want to be either, it won't hurt you -

I don't think that it will affect you much,it is just a choice ,can't decide anything.
