Senior SGO Cards/ Community Service Notice
#1
Posted 15 June 2010 - 11:06 PM
Please note that as the clock ticks for us to finalize your hours and credits through SGO Cards and letters of volunteer hours, it is imperative that we have them on file.
As a reminder, you need 32 service credits through participation in school activities and 50 volunteer service hours in order to receive a BROOKLYN TECH Diploma along with passing ALL of your major classes.
If you have any of your SGO Cards at home and have doubts that they have been submitted please SCAN them and email them to me. The file name of your JPEG image must be LAST NAME, FIRSTNAME or it will not be accepted. In addition, please have your OSIS on your SGO Card(s) as well when scanning them.
This goes for your volunteer hours as well. Please scan them using the same format for the file name. I am accepting PDFs as well.
THIS IS DUE BY THURSDAY, JUNE 17TH BY 8PM. If I do not receive your documents by then, your hours/ service credits may not be counted toward completion of your BTHS Diploma.
I am asking you to SCAN your documents because it will save you a trip to the school and it will provide us with the most updated information in the fastest possible way.
If you have not purchased an SGO card, please call 718 804 6400 or 718 804 6497 and inquire about the GO Store hours during regents week. Regardless of whether you have participated in activities or not for a given term or year, you must have a card on file for all 4 years at Brooklyn Tech. We came into Tech with tons of teams and clubs to join and that was made possible because previous classes contributed to the Student Activities Budget by purchasing SGO cards. Every penny is used to allocate to clubs and teams in the building to fund for their activities, equipment, and fees.
Finally, during the week of June 21st, Wennie Chin (Secretary) and I will be finalizing the data with Mr. Williams and we will send out a document by OSIS outlining the # of cards we have on file for you, the # of service credits you've obtained, and the # of volunteer hours you have. During this time, you will have until June 23rd (22nd and 23rd after graduation rehearsals) to make any changes if there are mistakes in room 7C1. Please note that on June 23rd, Cap and Gowns will also be distributed so we will not be able to assist you until all materials have been distributed. We will ask for your patience on the 23rd.
If you would like to check the status of your hours/service credits, I may not be able to assist you until all the information has been entered. Again, we ask for your patience.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at any time.

I know this may pertain to quite a number of you. Omar Ahmed has brought to my attention that he has given his documentation to his guidance counselor.
Please note that if you have done that and have not submitted documentation to the Office of Student Activities, we will have NO record of your service credits and/or volunteer hours.
If this is the case, please scan me your documents as a JPEG or PDF file with the file name as LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME and email (nchen9119@bths.edu) them to me so that I can record your credits. Again, I am asking you to scan me your documents because it will save you a trip to the school and will provide us with the information we need the quickest way possible!
All of this is due to me by Thursday at 11:59PM. Once again, if you ask about your current record of service credits and/or hours, it may not reflect the most current changes because we are still actively updating records for over 1000 seniors. We are asking for your patience until a finalized list is released on Saturday afternoon which will reflect the most current updates.
I applaud you all for your services to Tech and the community and if you have any questions, as always, never hesitate to email me back!!
