I play a lot of computer games and right now I have an Nvidia Geforce 5200. I'm thinking about getting a new card around December. Does anyone have any good reccomendations?

budget = 9600 XT

Performance = 9800 Pro (Will last you 4 years +)

Xcellent = X800 XT or Pro (depends on price) Get agp one.

Trust only Ati! There should be a pre-december price drop as well as a sale.

Agp video cards are a thing of a past, if you plan to upgrade buying a agp card will have you needing another card in 6 months. If i were you i'd get a PCX compatible motherboard and a Video card to go with.

I don't care much for video cards, id rather buy a nice processor for $200 then spend it on some graphics card, I like my 32 MB onboard :-), i don't play much games that's why

Ati isn't always the way to go, it depends on what kind of games you play. Most games todays are optimized for on nVidia chipsets and its a pain in the a** searching for updates for Ati Drivers. I have a 2500+ Barton core Overclocked to 3200+ running on a M7NCD ultra 1gb of Geil Membory with a 9600xt it plays most games with a good framerate but it also needs a driver update now and then and it also has trouble with Painkiller (grr). If you want a card that would work on all games without trouble you probally should go with nVidia. If you don't mind the constant updates then Ati is the way to go. I might just go nVidia for my next card but thats isn't probally goin to be till a 64bit motherboard that supports Pci Express come on the market, And i'll probally get a full system upgrade and maybe even a fx-53 if i could get a good part time job. A tip while shopping Ati though. Never Buy Sapphire maybe Infotek or Powercolor but Never Sapphire

Yes they are, despite being oem they are cheap. A 75 dollar 9200 Pro with 256 Megs is awesome and will last you on a budget. :o

Sapphires take short cuts, they use cheeper versions of parts to save them $$ but leaves you short. For instance, on NewEgg the Sapphire version of the 9600xt has a memory clock of 580mhz while the PowerColor one has a memory clock of 680mhz, And sell for the same price on NewEgg.
