you'll get hacked because of a flaw in IE, or any program.

It's very possible you can get hacked through IE.

I couldn't open my Internet Explorer a couple of months a couple, it kept shutting down whenever I tried opening it. And something disabled my anti-virus, not that it did anything anyways. I had to reboot and reinstall everything.

I called the company, cuz back then I still had my one year warranty. They looked at it and was like, you got hacked.

Just reformat the computer. The viruses, adware, spyware will be cleared.

From what I have searched it uses the already embedded web browser(most commonly IE). I also saw it on some show on Tech tv.

I read in several places that it uses Netscape.

And a clue to that would be Netscape's affiliation with AOL.

AOL's browser history is quite confusing.
It used to use IE, even after it aquired Netscape in '98.
This article says that AOL was testing a built-in Netscape browser with 7.0. Keep in mind though, its from 2002. AOL could still be using IE.

Its even worse when people pay $30 for dsl and then like an extra 30$ for aol for broadband which doesnt give you broadband service just a nice gui to surf the net with. Oh yea and an email adress, those are not nearly woth an extra $30

Pfft. ActiveX in itself is already a flaw. I believe you can also get viruses from ActiveX, among spyware, adware, and trojans. Even the US CERT told people to ditch IE.
