New York Cares Students Give Back!
Mural Contest 2010
New York Cares is combing the city's high schools for budding artists to design the signature mural to be painted in a lucky public school on New York Cares Day, Saturday, October 23.
Deadline: Oct 6 2010, 5PM
Who: NYC public school students, grades 9-12
Rules:
- Submitted designs should interpret the theme Students Give Back! and encourage social responsibility in the community.
- Each mural design must be the work of an individual student. Sorry, no team entries allowed.
- Designs must be at least 8.5" x 11" and no larger than 11" x 14". Horizontal and vertical formats will be accepted.
- The mural concept, design, and all artwork must be the original work of the student entering.
- Copyrighted images, including cartoon characters, clip art, and brand references, may not be used.
- Designs must be created by hand (sketched by pen, pencil, or colored pencil), painted (oil or acrylic), or created digitally.
- Designs created digitally may be uploaded or e-mailed to muralcontest@newyorkcares.org (must be in .pdf or .jpeg format. 2MG maximum file size).
- All entries become the property of New York Cares. Unfortunately, we cannot return submitted work.
- New York Cares has the right to display all submissions.
Awards: Winner determined based on artistic merit, originality, and effectiveness of the message.
- The 1st prize winner will have his/her winning mural showcased at a New York City public school for years to come. He/she will also receive a $150 gift certificate to Utrecht art supplies store, and his/her teacher will receive a $150 credit to Barclay School Supplies.
- 2nd Prize: A $75 gift certificate to Utrecht art supplies store.
- 3rd Prize: A $50 gift certificate to Utrecht art supplies store.
- The top three designs will be featured on newyorkcares.org.
