If your sure it's the regents and not the proficiency, then I'm not too sure. As NickyC said somewhere, you will probably start a new language or have no language class at all? I forgot lol ( Ap spanish is full of juniors and seniors )

A freshman can take AP Spanish if he wants to. I had a freshman in my class when I was a junior and he did extremely well on the AP Exam. If AP Spanish LANGUAGE (FSX) doesn't show up on your program card but you desire to take it, follow the instructions on the first day to submit a program change - in other words, see your counselor after school. See the posting on bths.edu for program change opportunities and times.

thanks alot you have been a big help . This was a major concern for me because i did not want to repeat a course that i've completed already ...
I've asked many people about this , and all seem to not know what i'm talkin about .

Also .. since the school doesnt offer you to take trig as a side course ... can you do it privately instead ?

I took the Spanish proficiency in 8th grade and got a 100 on it (native speaker) and was wondering if there is anyway I could take the regents during my freshman year. Is there a way or am I gonna have to ask my guidance counselor sometime the first week of school?

When i was in middle school i was allowed to skip a level of spanish ... i didnt skip however ...
But i believe in order to skip you will need a teacher's recommendation ....
bk tech should allow you to skip ... You will have to meet with your guidance conselour about that .

I wouldnt recommed skipping third year tho ... I learned alot from it .
you actually benefit from what you learn in third year on the regents.

If you took the proficiency, you start in Spanish II (FS3/4) as a freshman instead of Spanish I (FS1/2). You need to three years of Spanish and to be in Spanish III (FS5/6) before you can take the regents.

You'll either be taking AP Spanish or another language, you'll have to see what they place you in.

When'd your friend take AP Italian? It hasn't been offered by college board for a couple of years.

Nope, I asked my counselor if I could take a class somewhere else and then transfer the credits to tech & she said no.

No, you'll be placed in Spanish 2, you'll take Spanish 3 & the regents in your sophomore year & you'll have the option of taking AP Spanish during your junior year.

After taking the proficiency you'll be placed in Spanish 2, you can't skip the 2nd or 3rd years.
