BTHSChan.org is an open and anonymous imageboard built specifically for Brooklyn Technical High School students. For those of you who don't know what an imageboard is, it's basically an online forum (like BTHSNews) where anyone can share images and post comments, all with 100% assured privacy and anonymity. All threads are permanently deleted upon reaching the post limit and there are no records/archives of anything ever posted (Unless the users choose to archive a thread).
"Why do we need another forum when we already have BTHSNews?"
First and foremost, I would like to emphasize that we are not trying to compete with BTHSNews and we've been given permission by the BTHSNews staff to post this.
BTHSNews is structured with a set identity while BTHSChan is more "chaotic" with no forced identity. We're on complete opposite sides of the "online forum" spectrum.
BTHSChan.org was created with one thing in mind; Tech students need a place to freely express themselves. You can go on BTHSChan to vent and let off steam after a hard day and post things that you may otherwise not be allowed to post on BTHSNews. In addition to that, what you post won't be tied to a specific persistent identity like on a traditional forum. When you make a post or create a new thread, the name, email, and subject fields are optional and a blank name field defaults to "Anonymous." Right now, most of our users prefer to post under Anonymous.
Please remember to use your anonymity wisely and to read the rules before posting.

The site gets roughly ~200-250 page impressions a day, and around 630 on weekends. With that in mind, there are about 4 posts per day on weekdays, and 7+ on weekends.
We're small now (the site is less than a month old), but we're getting there. I also must express my deepest gratitude towards Andy Mai for providing this platform for us to spread the news and grow.

You need a better webmaster to make it more appealing and user-friendly.

Can you elaborate on that please? Do you mean the front page or the boards?
A lot of users that are new to Imageboards often don't know how to expand threads or make replies, and I've tried to remedy that by putting "reply" buttons and "Click reply to view thread" messages under each OP.
I'm open to any suggestions you may have. Getting to know the perspective of a person that's new to the *chan style imageboard is extremely helpful towards making the site user-friendly.

Putting the columns in tabs would be nice. A scroll down like on bths.edu...
Also, a feed stating which thread/posts is new would be awesome.
Hum. A more graphic-y banner would be nice.
All in all, a more sleek and streamlined feel would bring more visitors to the site...
No offense but it kinda hurts my eyes, compared to other pages...
Oh, btw. You kinda don't need a separate column for the facebook fan page. Just put it on the side, as a mini box or something. The background could be a LITTLE bit more epic, but I don't see anything wrong with it.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: Just read that you want it to have a chan-y look. Organize the topics into a less of an eyesore.
Also, just for some creativity, enable html/bbcode?
...
For some reason, this reminds me of a Vanilla board.
good luck! Maybe I'll join once the boards look a little bit better... SINCE THIS FORUM IS VERY SCRUNCHY BUNCHY.

I'll see what I can do about the front page but, the graphic/design was made by a web programmer. You try getting a logical code monkey to use his right brain! If you know anyone in the Media major that can spruce up the site, feel free to throw me a PM!
As for the boards, that's the standard Imageboard layout (Reply/New Thread box on top. Threads listed on bottom. Just look at 2chan or 4chan). If I change the layout, it just won't be an Imageboard anymore. I will, however, find ways to make a -look- better. Right now, I'm using Tech's blue color theme combined with the chan-green.
Thanks for the tips though! And if you know anyone that's more of a designer than a code monkey, send me a PM!

That's alright. I'm restoring a backup from before it happened now.
Whoever posted it on /b/, please grow up. Imageboards are nothing new and isn't some sort of "secret clubhouse." Stuyvesant has a Chan as well, btw.
