The version of the site you're seeing right now is probably the 3rd revision of the site I originally started about a week before school started.
The imageboard script that's currently powering the site has been tweaked quite a bit by myself and a former team member. The /b/ raid that occurred last night was unexpected -- I didn't expect a Tech student to be immature enough to think a raid would be funny. Nevertheless, I would say we bounced back from the assault pretty well. I restored a backup of the site from before the spamming occurred and am currently experimenting different ways to prevent another raid from happening.
The BTHSChan team didn't go into this blindfolded. We prepared for everything except for this because we overestimated the maturity of our fellow students

No, the problem is that the one student was an Anon. And so are the majority of the students that will join BTHSChan.
Tech student or not, a troll is a troll. Given anonymity, a troll will do whatever it takes to troll. Including raiding any form of imageboard, startup or otherwise.

Wrong, you overestimated the maturity of the anonymous.

The problem was that one student thought it would be funny so they stirred up the beehive, which they did because they lack the maturity level to do otherwise. I mean, they go on /b/ afterall.
You must remember that Anonymous members are human too.
If you want to discuss this further, please send me a PM or email me at admin@bthschan.org so that we may continue this privately. BTHSNews is not an appropriate place for us to discuss about things related to a different website. Andy Mai was already generous enough to allow me to post on here, and I do not wish to overstay my welcome.
