The Wire

It is the greatest television show of all time. There is no other show that even comes close to it in terms of quality.

Watch it, if you haven't already done so.

Arrested Development. Not the most "deep," certainly, but incredible and well-written comedy! Sadly, it was short-lived.

This is a show that every "older" reader will certainly know but the younger readers may not. My vote goes to "All in the Family" which had the majority of its run during the 1970s. Do yourself a favor and take Season 1 out of the library and you will likely agree with my vote. The show was essentially a parody of how conservatives and liberals disagree on things. Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker and Jean Stapleton as his wife Edith provide what I feel are the greatest acting performances ever on a television show. Many of the episodes deal with very controversial topics but the material is very relevant even to today's world. I recently watched an episode from 1976. Conservative Archie was trying to anger his liberal son-in-law, so he yelled out, "And you're going to get Reegan in 1980!!!!!" He of course was referring to Reagan, as in Ronald Reagan. But the irony of that line is that it turns out he was RIGHT...we did get Reagan in 1980! Can you imagine a tv show predicting in 2008 who would be the President in 2012 and calling it correctly? I can't!
