From my understanding, this association helps out the residents, businesses, and general Fort Greene area.
They help to make the area a cleaner and greener place to live in by either giving out trees, mulching trees after the holiday season, cleaning the parks, etc. They have holiday gatherings to raise money for the needy.
Basically, its a community service organization.
