The sixth ranked Brooklyn Tech Girls Volleyball Team defeated Seward Park High School to advance to the quarter finals of the PSAL Girls Volleyball A Division Playoffs.
In a match where both teams had their shining moments, Tech was able to pull off the 25-14, 23-25, 25-16 victory behind Elizabeth Barshay's 30 assists.
Coming off a first round playoff bye, the Tech Girls were poised to advance to the next round in front of their home crowd. A gym packed with cheerleaders and Tech Knights created a hostile environment for Seward Park to play against.
The first set began with each side matching each other's points. It was not till the score was 7-8 when Tech went on a seven point run to lead 14-8.
Tech struggled with their service game in the first set giving the ball back to Seward on three consecutive serves.
Despite the serving woes, Tech captured the first set easily 25-14.
Seward fought back in the second set by taking the early lead and never surrendering it.
A late valiant effort by Larissa Ho took Tech on a six point run and as close as 23-24.
But in the third set, it was clear the better team would shine. Trailing 13-15, Tech turned the switch on and went on a 10 point run. Tech closed the match out 25-16.
The home crowd stayed on it's feet the whole 10 point run.
Upon Colette Littell's final kill to close the game out, the crowd erupted and the girls rejoiced on the court.
Tech advances to the quarter finals of the PSAL Girls Volleyball A Division Playoffs where they will face third ranked Midwood High School on Wednesday.
Tech defeated Midwood in three sets during a scrimmage earlier this season.
Tech remains undefeated this season but walks a rocky road towards the championship match.
Tech had a total of 43 service points including 10 aces.
Amy Ye had 12 kills.
Colette Littell had 11 kills.
Diana Laham had 8 kills.
Larissa Ho had 8 digs.
Jessica Mai had 8 digs.
