Okay, so I'm really paranoid right now. My friend's dad was telling me recently how when his two kids where applying to college, they took an addressed and already stamped envelope to their school so that the school could send his/her materials in that envelope to the college(s). In addition, yesterday I asked one of my friends in another high school about this and he was like "yeah, I have to take envelopes to school" I'm asking my friends in tech and I asked a person in the college office and they all said we don't need to do that. But I'm still not sure. I wanted to ask my guidance counselor today but she wasn't there. I know we need envelopes for the teacher recommendation letters but do we need envelopes for anything else? (transcript, guidance rec letter, etc)

No, everything is done online or handled by Tech. Your friends dad isn't a very reliable source, he hasn't been in high school for a long time. Other schools might need an envelope if they submit most of their stuff through the mail, Tech submits it online. Oh and if the college office said no than there's your answer.

Okay so how about for colleges that say (on naviance):
1. This college does not accept transcripts and recommendations electronically through our system.

The school prefers to send information electronically through naviance; however, for those schools who don't accept naviance, the school will mail them. For your teacher letters of rec., the college office doesn't have much control over that. Your teachers will send out whatever envelopes you give them or you can have the commonapp email them with how to do it online. My teachers already sent out my envelopes, but I suppose the online version is more convenient since most colleges prefer to have their letters of rec. submitted online.
You can't expect to do everything, but there is everything to be expected.

Since the school is mailing them, do we have to give them envelopes and postage and such? Likewise for the counselor letters of rec, do they mail it out and if so do we need to give the envelope/stamps? It's not that I don't have the things, I just want to be prepared. I'm going again ask to tomorrow anyway but I'm curious atm

If they are being mailed, you must pre-stamp and pre-address all your envelopes. DO NOT write anything on the top left. The school will stamp the address. Please also check EACH of the colleges in which you are applying to to make sure that the address you have is correct for Undergraduate Application Processing. Many colleges have different addresses on where application materials go aside from the admissions office address. If you are unsure, send an email or call the schools to be sure. There is nothing more frustrating than having materials delayed because they are being transferred to the correct location.
