I got a 65 first quarter in Geometry and a 60 in the second. Its going to be tough for me to end up with a 65 due to me not doing too well on the first test of the third quarter. I'm at bout a 60 average and I might end up failing geometry for the semester. ITs not that I'm lazy..I'm just not good at math..I study..tutoring.I just go blank when I get that test paper. So..if I do end up failing first semester how badly will it afect my college chances? I want to go to a solid/good college. Not Ivy Leagues or anything. BTW...I'm in freshman year. I can and have done extremely well in my other classes except Geometry.

English-95-100
Spanish-85-90
Physics-85-90
Global-90-95
Phyics Lab-90-95
Band-95-100
DDP-85-90

Gemotry- 60-65

So how badly will this affect me? Will I have to retake the course I I fail geometry this semester because I think I can get it into the 70-75 range next semester which starts January 24th if my memory serves me right. I really don't want to take geometry over again during the summero or the entire next year. Any and all answers will be appreciated. Gotta go study for my geo test comin up!

I think you only have to retake if you fail both terms, not just one term. Just get a 65 and move along. As for your future, one class out of the 20+ classes you're going to take at Tech won't affect you that much. Just keep your GPA high enough.

I think you'll still be in the 80s range even with a 60/65 average with Geometry if you have the statistics as shown (and you actually get those grades of course). Do REALLY well on the final exam. It weighs a lot. Unlike high school, where you get a LOT more personal attention than in college (yeah, I know, you must think I'm nuts for saying it in a school as large as Tech, but when you're in college, you're one of 450 kids with 1 professor, good luck getting noticed lol), so speak to your teacher and ask for additional exercises for practice. A teacher will show no leniency toward a student if he just goes to tutoring, does homework, and still performs badly. However, they will show leniency toward a student who strives to do well even when all odds are against them. Ask for additional questions from the textbook and also ask if the teacher is willing to check it or go over it for you. Most of the time, you'll be surprised to find that the answer is YES, and they will help you. I know, shocker, but teachers love students who give a 2 cents about their education. Trust me.

However, you have to do your part and keep trying. I mean, legit, keep trying. Math is not easy (but if you end up in AP Spanish and fail miserably, then I don't blame you hahaha  ) but its not the hardest thing in the world either. Do your part. When you do exercises, look through the math book and SHOW EVERY SINGLE STEP. Even if it means you're using another piece of paper or a few more pieces haha. You'll see your mistakes MUCH easier. Trust me again. My homework now is usually 20 pages of work shown. It's INSANE. But hey, that's an A in Calculus. I wish I did that in Tech because I would've done so much better but I didn't because...you know, I thought I could've half a$$ my way through Tech math...I did, half way, then I got screwed over when I didn't keep up...which is why I didn't take a 4th year of math at Tech...big mistake. Take it even if you are struggling. It's going to be so worth it. I occasionally ask friends who have taken AP Calc AB or BC for help an they;re pros at it even though they got a 80/85 in the class.

Colleges will look at your grades collectively. So a 65/60 here and there isn't going to be THAT bad. keywords: that bad. If you continue to do as well as you are in your other classes and future math classes then they'll just be like "OK, so that was just a b!tch subject for the kid, alright, whatever" But if you start going on a downward slope, then all hope is lost.

if you have specific questions about things, you can feel free to PM or email me as well.

Good luck!
