This guy at my lunch table told me about the tech squad. He said that they fix computers/ technological equipment and that they get paid to do this(?). Yeah so I think I might join but:
What are the requirements?
Do you have to know anything about computers?
Does it mess up your schedule?
Do you get credits from this?
Do you have to go to Tech in the summer if you join?

1. You have to go through a short questioning by Gavin on why you want to join. I do not know the formal process for admission but that's how it usually goes.
2. Not necessarily, but they have enough members who don't know anything so I don't think that they want any more of those.
3. It does not, you only have to give up your lunch period to attend.
4. Yup, 8 per term.
5. That's optional, you can attend but nothing says you have to.
Also if you stay after school, you're eligible for an extra grade on your report card (usually 95-100) that averages in.

Don't forget the minimum wages if you work in the summer, Ilya.

The Tech Squad will look great on your resume when applying for future jobs. In this economy, I would advise any student to TAKE THE JOB if they can get it. In the end, the employers are more worried about whether or not you have experience and that will be their reasoning behind hiring you or not. I worked for Parks in the summer and the fact that I had so much experience with different jobs, they offered me the position and my leadership activities only reinforced my resume, but it did not directly impact the hiring decision.

OK, now I understand why people have been coming from all over.
I am going to outline accurate (to date) requirements of joining Technology Squad.
Academics
1. No class may be below the grade of 85 (unweighed).
2. Good attendance throughout the year.
Keep in mind we have a way of checking this information.
Requirements.
1. Basic ability to identify simple computer problems and repair them. (Training available to certain extent).
2. Interest in computers/technology. This is not something you feel like you have to do, this is something you should be enjoying.
Sort out your reasons for joining Technology Squad. We had way too many people who tried to join "for the credits" That is the wrong answer.
Credits.
1. Available 6-8 credits per term, depending on your status (to be determined within a few weeks of joining).
2. If you are terminated from you position in Tech Squad during a term, the credits will NOT be awarded.
Schedule.
This has no effect on your schedule. It is done in free time only. So, before school, during lunch and after school. You only have to come to one, but not limited to. Attendance is required every day.
Jobs.
1. A summer job/internship is offered to a limited number of students. The terms are to be discussed with the leader.
NOTE. As of January 1st, 2011 the registration is closed, unless you are recommended by a member.
Spots will be available next year, upon the leaving of Tech Squad Senior Members.
