Law and Society is one of the two largest majors in Brooklyn Tech. Any student interested in become a lawyer post graduation would benefit greatly from this major. That doesn

Do you still take AP Comparative Government as a Senior to satisfy your Regents Diploma government requirement?  Do LAS students still get priority for AP Economics?

Law and Society students are actually ineligible for AP Economics.

AP Comparative Government is not a Regents Diploma requirement, you get that done junior year in AP US Government.

How much of a chance do you think I've got getting in putting it first, with a 360 PI and ranked 373 out of 1203? :O

Most students who put it first got in, but it's progressively becoming one of the most popular majors, so I can't say what the chances are for your year.

At least when I was a student, any class you took for your major COULD NOT also count for your regents diploma. Otherwise you don't actually complete enough credits for the diplomas. So when the first revamped TLA into LAS, they required LAS students to take Comparative Government as a Senior (as part of the block of classes with the required semester of Economics).

Do you know why LAS students are ineligible for AP Economics, what is the rationale for that?
It's much easier being politically incorrect.

AP Econ & AP Gov't is only offered during the fall semester every year. So if LAS requires that you take AP Gov't first term senior year, your only option is Regular Econ in the spring... This applies for anyone else too. If I took AP Gov't instead of Regular Govt, I wouldn't be able to take AP Econ - vice versa if I chose AP Econ.

I guess this provides adequate time to prep for the AP Exams in both respectively. Once the AP is over, teachers can teach the rest of the material for the class that the AP is not given. I heard from Mr. Dwyer that he teaches AP Gov't for most of the year, students take the AP, then he wraps up the year with a 6 weeks of Economics after the AP. It's possible since H.S. economics isn't rocket science and we have above average students already.

But AP Government is a major class for LAS students, so LAS students are technically supposed to still have a year of Government/Economics as Seniors. That's why for LAS students AP American History is a double period class, because one period (or credit) counts towards the Regents Diploma and the other counts towards the Major Diploma. So LAS students should still be taking a government/economics class as Seniors to meet the Regents Diploma. So what do they take if not AP Comparative government?

Wait, I'm confused. LAS students do take AP Comp Gov't. They just can't take AP Econ since both courses are offered in the Fall Semester only. The same teacher teaches the Economics after AP Gov't instruction is over.

AP Government is a one term class but LAS students take Constitutional Law after it compared to regular students that take AP Government who take Economics after.
