So I really like Bio-med and LAS, but i don't know which one to choose for number 1. Both seem really interesting. But my PI for Bio Med is 252....just 1 point over last year's cutoff line and ranked around 600. and for LAS, I'm ranked 500 out of every sophmore. So which one do you think I should submit as number one and what are my chances of getting into either one of these?

Rank it through your interest I suggest you put LAS 3rd for security.

Rank them in preference order - if you don't get one, you will have a good shot at the other.

Every major has a different ranking. For Bio-Med, for example, they take your average + 2(science avg), while for Law they take your average + 2(social studies) + english. You are then put into the ranking. The cut off score is the lowest accepted score from last year. Hope this helped lol =P

You're always better off picking your top preference because that's usually the deciding factor in placing you. Last time I saw the data, most people do get one of their first two choices. So making your preferences accurate is as important as having a PI score within range for the major.
It's much easier being politically incorrect.

The cutoff scores is based on your class. It deviates every year which is why its impossible to tell you where you stand because factors like individual preference of your peers, your PI, and seats available all play a role in determining that cut off. The cut off score is released AFTER placement of all students.
But the bottom line is, the higher your PI for your desired major, the greater your chances of getting into it!
If your average is in the 90s, you will likely be placed in one of your top 3 major preferences.

I highly doubt you will get into LAS with that rank. This year, plenty of people are choosing it and it's very competitive.
