Hello!
I bought a 32GB usb thumb drive but when I looked inside to see how much memory inside, I only see 30GB memory. Is that normal?
It seems like all the usb thumb drive I have, they never show the actual size as printed on the box or the thumb drive.
Thanks for any advice!

That is normal. Pretty much, every type of data storage you buy like hard drives and flash drives, the actual memory you get would be like around 7% less I think. I think one of the reasons behind this is that computers see that there are 1024 bytes in one kilobyte but storage manufacturers use the standard of 1000 bytes in one kilobyte.

This happens because of formatting. A certain portion of the flash memory is reserved for the filesystem, otherwise you wouldn't be able to view the files. Hard drives and almost all types of storage do this.
