So, I made into ID( Industrial Design). From what I understand, I will be having a 1-9 schedule next year. Is that correct? I'm in 2nd year spanish right now, and am taking trig. With two periods of major, one of language, lunch, and all the normal classes, I believe that's 9 periods. Is there something I'm missing? If I do in fact have a 1-9, could I get rid of lunch somehow?

1-9 sounds right and yes you could get rid of lunch. Speak with your guidance counselor about it, she'll give a form for your parents to fill out.

Should I be doing that this year then? ( Getting the form filled out?) I really need a 2-9, because I seriously can not be at school at 8AM. Also, I heard AP US History is double period, that isn't true, right? And to end my onslaught of questions, is it difficult to get in to AP English?

What about the Law & Society major in junior year? What's the schedule for a student that doesn't take any extra classes?

You can wake up early and get to school by 8AM if you really wanted to. I thought it would be impossible for me to get to school on time before 8AM, but here I am waking up early and getting to school on time. AP US History is only a double period for LAS students so you don't have to worry about it. Getting into AP English is moderately challenging. It's not too hard to get in but you'll need a decent essay and a decent English transcript average. I know last year it was pretty competitive though; a decent writer should have a 75% chance of getting in.

Law and Society is 1-9 if you have not finished your foreign language. What do you mean "extra classes"? You might be able to drop math if you are programmed for "Intuitive Calculus" because it is not required, besides that, lunch is the only other thing you can drop. You will be required to take AP US History for two periods and AP US Government for one period. Add that with a required English class, science class (unless you finished this early).

Get over having a longer schedule, it doesn't even matter that much. Learning is a great thing and I'm glad I have the schedule I have now even though it is taxing. I recommend taking AP English because it is my favorite class. (I have those Baldwin Thursdays!)

Extra classes like band/chorus.
And I know learning is great and all, but I'm hoping for the least amount of stress possible. Whatever I get, I'll have to cope with it anyway, so whatever, I just want a heads up.

That's my kind of thinking! See I've always found the problem with Tech students is that they get in way over their heads and wind up taking far too many difficult classes only to crash and burn half way through the term. I took lunch out of my schedule and I haven't regretted it once. You're in school for ~3.5-4ish hours per week just due to lunch. If you have a teacher that lets you eat in class than I'd strongly recommend looking into that option.

Of course, if I really wanted to, I could be at school at 7AM. I rather enjoy my highschool years and not deprive myself of almost a full hour of sleep a day. I'd say I write well. I'm in English honors, does that affecty chances at all? Should I go to my next years counselor about the lunch forms or my counselor currently?

Go to this years counselor. Just get an 85+ and you'll be fine for AP English, it's not hard to get into.

Alright, thanks. I should submit the lunch form right now then? Also, is there any way I could guarantee a 2-9 schedule?

You would have a 1-10. Without lunch, 1-9. Unless bio med is 3 periods junior year which I don't think it is. SoLR, couldn't I still get 1-8 even without lunch ?

Believe me, it is. School from 8 to 4. That's essentially a real full work day.

^haha, I believe that's the electromechanical major, SENIOR YEAR.

Also if you're in LAS, assuming the teachers will be the same, you're guaranteed great APUSH teachers. There are three AP Gov teachers for LAS, and they're okay. But if you get Mr. Dennie for either of those AP's you're going to learn a lot and learn it well.

Also, think of lunch as a break, a 1-9 isn't bad but going 8 straight periods without a break in between might lead to burnout as well in the long run.

I tend to eat in class because my lunch is 8th period. Lunch is spent either doing homework for the next period or playing my ipod. I rather get 40 minutes of sleep :p

Yes, everyone in the electro-mechanical, aerospace, and math majors have horribly long schedules full of double period long classes (the main reason our schedules are so full and not flexible). In junior year I had a 1-9 with lunch. This year I have a 1-10 with no lunch. The typical schedule for these majors would be 1-9 with no lunch. Some people extend it to 1-10 with lunch, some people drop out of some of their classes because of after school work and responsibilities, others find some way to switch their majors... I just wanted AP Spanish...
You can't expect to do everything, but there is everything to be expected.

Anyone know if Human Ananomy and Bio Engineering is a full year class or a 1 term class?

What would a SSR schedule be if, I didn't finish my language, and took trig in 10th grade.
