There are five branches of SGO at this point:
- you would be part of executive council which is made up of the secretary, treasurer, parliamentarian, president and vice president of each grade. It would also include the SGO speaker who is generally a speaker and who runs executive council meetings. For this year there are executive council meetings every thursday.
- you would be mandated to take part in council of student activities which meets on tuesdays as of right now. In this branch of SGO there are about 40-50 students: 10-15 people per grade. There are 4 committees this year and each committee is in charge of organizing, planning, and executing about 4-5 events.
- leadership would be an optional branch but it is advised that as a freshman you attend. you learn leadership skills by playing interactive games and learning lessons.
- Club Team Council is held once a month. A representative from each club and team comes to the meeting, voices any concerns they have, and discusses topics. You are not mandated to go to these meetings but it is advised.
- Lastly there is Student Assembly which is once a month. I'm not sure if it will be here next year but as of right now it is the communication branch of SGO where anyone can come to the meetings and voice their opinions about any topic in the school. The point is so that SGO can hear any complaints or concerns student have.
Being part of executive council also entitles you for another job. I am not sure if this will be kept for next year but there are about sixteen other jobs, like running Student Assembly meetings or sitting on the Student Leadership Team (which is a committee that meets once a month comprised of administration. only two students are allowed to sit in on the meetings.they speak about all the issues occurring in school).
I know it's a bit vague but things are always changing and I don't want to tell you something incorrect so when you come in as a freshman, it's not there.
I served in student government since freshman year and I love it. You meet great people and we become sort of like a family. I really encourage anyone who is interested in SGO to join. I just have to warn you that you might stay late some days and you really need to put effort in what you are doing in SGO or else something might go wrong and the student body can get angry.
If you have any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer or one of the other members of SGO will answer. :]
See you next year!

Thanx Michy that was valuable info. Can you break down what each person in the SGO executive council does? Like the president, vice prez, parliamentarian, secretary, and treasure. Oh and i saw the video of your speech for junior class prez. Well spoken i must say.

There will most likely be an announcement saying that applications are in 7C1. You fill out an application and return it to the COSA, on time. The application will have standard questions (i.e. name, OSIS, prefect, guidance consular), an essay requirement and some questions about you. If you're applying for President or Vice President, you'll have to make a speech for your class. Parliamentarians. Secretaries and Treasurers are interviewed. I believe the requirements are 85+ average, and good attendance (Not too demanding).

So basically, as a current sophomore I would have to join one of the above branches if i wanted to apply for and executive position for junior year.
What are any of the specific requirements, aside from grades needed to be in each of those branches? Or is it all clearly explained in the application? I don't mind waiting :)

CSA has an application and an interview.
Leadership and Student Assembly are more open to join.
The requirements can still change and depends on how many people apply. Like if only 10 people in a certain grade apply for CSA and all are interested, there would be no need for an interview since all the spots are filled up.
And if you ever have any problems with the requirements or anything, as Nicky said, talk with the COSA in 7C1.
