Yes. Swim gym teachers will mostly focus on teacher you how to swim(floating, breathing, the basics) and experienced swimmers will most likely be assigned to do laps.
It's not like tech has ever required info about your swimming skills in order to schedule you into swim gym or else that will just make scheduling even more problematic.
Anyway, swim gym almost always tend to be a mix of people.
