FYI - We are limited in the textbook issues we can resolve each year. This year alone, we spent $31,500 in library books and $308,000 in new textbooks. Any expenditures beyond our normal book allocations must come from the general fund which translates into loss of elective classes or other supplemental services. We are working on it...

All students next year are required by NYCDOE / NYSED to have 5.5 hours of instructional time excluding lunch. Not much impact to most students at Tech but it is a huge issue for seniors at most other schools. We will be sending an email update to all students on recent policy changes and I will be holding a town hall meeting in the auditorium to answer questions and address issues. It is important to review the High School Academic Policy Reference Guide to understand that most of the changes were not optional. I am not going to address individual questions related to the policy shift in the forums until after the town hall meeting.

The purpose is to contain the smoke in the event of a fire. The doors are required as per the NYC fire code - I tried to have them removed and was denied. For the record, I have personally been cut by the cross-corridor doors as have several other faculty members.

Please complete an accident report in the deans office. We have been fighting to get these doors replaced for over five years - each incident gets a few more doors fixed.
